ALLAMA IQBAL (KHUDI KO KAR BULUND ITNA)

 

1    ख़िर्द-मंदों से क्या पूछूँ कि मेरी इब्तिदा क्या है

कि मैं इस फ़िक्र में रहता हूँ मेरी इंतिहा क्या है

 

Why should I ask scholars and intellectuals about my beginning when I remain worried about my ultimate destination?

 

2    ख़ुदी को कर बुलंद इतना कि हर तक़दीर से पहले

ख़ुदा बंदे से ख़ुद पूछे बता तेरी रज़ा क्या है

 

Non-duality be glorified to its pinnacle to realize that there is no difference between the Divine will and nothingness of mine.

 

3    मक़ाम-ए-गुफ़्तुगू क्या है अगर मैं कीमिया-गर हूँ

यही सोज़-ए-नफ़स है और मेरी कीमिया क्या है

 

What is to be discussed if I am a product of chemistry of five elements. This is the predicament about my chemical metabolism

 

4    नज़र आईं मुझे तक़दीर की गहराइयाँ इस में

न पूछ ऐ हम-नशीं मुझ से वो चश्म-ए-सुर्मा-सा क्या है

 

I see the wisdom of my destiny in this human body. Do not probe more into the deep recesses of my inner insight of revelation.

 

5    अगर होता वो 'मजज़ूब'-ए-फ़रंगी इस ज़माने में

तो 'इक़बाल' उस को समझाता मक़ाम-ए-किबरिया क्या है

 

Had the European Nietzsche( who declared that God is dead) been alive? I would have made him known as the Maqam-e- Haq( pinnacle of Divinity)

 

6    नवा-ए-सुब्ह-गाही ने जिगर ख़ूँ कर दिया मेरा

ख़ुदाया जिस ख़ता की ये सज़ा है वो ख़ता क्या है

 

Why are these thoughts of life and beyond painfully bleeding my heart in the early morning? Oh God, I am punishable for the fault in this world I am unaware of.
