HEER RANJHA –PART TWO

 

71. ਹੀਰ ਦਾ ਰਾਂਝੇ ਨੂੰ ਚੂਚਕ ਕੋਲ ਲਿਜਾਣਾ (HEER TAKES RANJHA TO CHUCHAK)

1.     ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਉਂ ਤੋਂ ਜਾਨ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਕੀਤੀ, ਮਾਲ ਜੀਉ ਤੇਰੇ ਉਤੋਂ ਵਾਰਿਆ ਈ ।

2.     ਪਾਸਾ ਜਾਨ ਦਾ ਸੀਸ ਦੀ ਲਾਈ ਬਾਜ਼ੀ, ਤੁਸਾਂ ਜਿੱਤਿਆ ਤੇ ਅਸਾਂ ਹਾਰਿਆਂ ਈ ।

3.     ਰਾਂਝਾ ਜੀਉ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਯਕੀਨ ਕਰਕੇ, ਮਹਿਰ ਚੂਚਕੇ ਪਾਸ ਸਿਧਾਰਿਆ ਈ ।

4.     ਅੱਗੇ ਪੈਂਚਣੀ ਹੋਇ ਕੇ ਹੀਰ ਚੱਲੀ, ਕੋਲ ਰਾਂਝੇ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਇ ਖਲ੍ਹਾਰਿਆ ਈ ।

72. ਹੀਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਬਾਪ ਨੂੰ (HEER SPEAKS TO HER FATHER)

1.     ਹੀਰ ਜਾਇ ਕੇ ਆਖਦੀ ਬਾਬਲਾ ਵੇ, ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਉਂ ਤੋਂ ਘੋਲ ਘੁਮਾਈਆਂ ਮੈਂ ।

2.     ਜਿਸ ਆਪਣੇ ਰਾਜ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਅੰਦਰ, ਵਿੱਚ ਸਾਂਦਲ-ਬਾਰ ਖਿਡਾਈਆਂ ਮੈਂ ।

3.     ਲਾਸਾਂ ਪੱਟ ਦੀਆਂ ਪਾਇ ਕੇ ਬਾਗ਼ ਕਾਲੇ, ਪੀਂਘਾਂ ਸ਼ੌਕ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਪੀਂਘਾਈਆਂ ਮੈਂ ।

4.     ਮੇਰੀ ਜਾਨ ਬਾਬਲ ਜੀਵੇ ਧੌਲ ਰਾਜਾ, ਮਾਹੀ ਮਹੀਂ ਦਾ ਢੂੰਡ ਲਿਆਈਆਂ ਮੈਂ ।

ਜਿਸ ਬਲਦ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਿੰਗਾਂ ਤੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਚੁੱਕੀ ਮੰਨਿਆਂ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ;

72.  (HEER SPEAKS TO THE FATHER)

1.     Heer respectfully tells her father that she is extremely grateful to him.

2.     That she has played in this island of her father surrounded by rivers of Raavi and Chenab.

3.     She has played and enjoyed the swings of ropes covered with silk.

4.     Oh, my great father, the mythical bull is your life support.  I have found my companion.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

73. ਹੀਰ ਦਾ ਬਾਪ ਚੂਚਕ ਤੇ ਹੀਰ ( HEER’S FATHER CHUCHAK AND HEER)

1.     ਬਾਪ ਹਸ ਕੇ ਪੁੱਛਦਾ ਕੌਣ ਹੁੰਦਾ, ਇਹ ਮੁੰਡੜਾ ਕਿਤ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਦਾ ਹੈ ।

2.     ਹੱਥ ਲਾਇਆਂ ਪਿੰਡੇ ਤੇ ਦਾਗ਼ ਪੈਂਦ, ਇਹ ਮਹੀਂ ਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਰਕਾਰ ਦਾ ਹੈ ।

3.     ਸੁਘੜ ਚਤਰ ਤੇ ਅਕਲ ਦਾ ਕੋਟ ਨੱਢਾ, ਮੱਝੀਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕੇ ਚਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ ।

4.     ਮਾਲ ਆਪਣਾ ਜਾਨ ਕੇ ਸਾਂਭ ਲਿਆਵੇ, ਕੋਈ ਕੰਮ ਨਾ ਕਰੇ ਵਗਾਰ ਦਾ ਹੈ ।

5.     ਹਿੱਕੇ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਦੀ ਹੂੰਗ ਦੇ ਕੇ, ਸੋਟਾ ਸਿੰਗ ਤੇ ਮੂਲ ਨਾ ਮਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ ।

6.     ਦਿਸੇ ਨੂਰ ਅੱਲਾਹ ਦਾ ਮੁਖੜੇ ਤੇ, ਮਨੋਂ ਰਬ ਹੀ ਰਬ ਚਿਤਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ ।

73. HEER'S FATHER CHUCHAK AND HEER

1.     The father laughingly asks where this boy comes from.

2.     He appears so soft that he may get a bruise on his body by merely touching him.

3.     Heer says—he is honest to the core and agile and can effectively handle a herd of buffaloes.

4.     He can take care of our animal husbandry as his own and will not demean the work.

5.     He can lovingly take care of them without using the baton.

6.     The splendor of God shines on his face, and he is devoted to Him from his heart.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

74. ਹੀਰ ਦੇ ਬਾਪ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਛਣਾ ( FATHER OF THE HEER QUESTIONS)

1.     ਕਿਹੜੇ ਚੌਧਰੀ ਦਾ ਪੁਤ ਕੌਦ ਜ਼ਾਤੋਂ, ਕੇਹਾ ਅਕਲ ਸ਼ਊਰ ਦਾ ਕੋਟ ਹੈ ਨੀ ।

2.     ਕੀਕੂੰ ਰਿਜ਼ਕ ਨੇ ਆਣ ਉਦਾਸ ਕੀਤਾ, ਏਹਨੂੰ ਕਿਹੜੇ ਪੀਰ ਦੀ ਓਟ ਹੈ ਨੀ ।

3.     ਫ਼ੌਜਦਾਰ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਕਰ ਕੂਚ ਧਾਣਾ, ਮਾਰ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਨਕਾਰੇ ਤੇ ਚੋਟ ਹੈ ਨੀ ।

4.     ਕਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਜੱਟਾਂ ਦਾ ਪੋਤਰਾ ਕੌਣ ਕੋਈ, ਕਿਹੜੀ ਗੱਲ ਦੀ ਏਸ ਨੂੰ ਤ੍ਰੋਟ ਹੈ ਨੀ ।

1.     To which chieftain (Chaudhry) of the village he belongs, what is his caste, and what type of knowledge and understanding he has?

2.     What lacks him that he is so sad? What is the name of the Pir he follows?

3.     He walks so softly as if the beating drum has lost its thunder.

75. ਹੀਰ ਨੇ ਬਾਪ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਸਣਾ ( HEER RESPONDS TO THE FATHER)

1.     ਪੁੱਤਰ ਤਖ਼ਤ ਹਜ਼ਾਰੇ ਦੇ ਚੌਧਰੀ ਦਾ, ਰਾਂਝਾ ਜ਼ਾਤ ਦਾ ਜੱਟ ਅਸੀਲ ਹੈ ਜੀ ।

2.     ਉਹਦਾ ਬੂਪੜਾ ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਨੈਣ ਨਿਮ੍ਹੇ, ਕੋਈ ਛੈਲ ਜੇਹੀ ਉਹਦੀ ਡੀਲ ਹੈ ਜੀ ।

3.     ਮੱਥਾ ਰਾਂਝੇ ਦਾ ਚਮਕਦਾ ਨੂਰ ਭਰਿਆ, ਸਖ਼ੀ ਜੀਉ ਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਖ਼ੀਲ ਹੈ ਜੀ ।

4.     ਗੱਲ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਪਰ੍ਹੇ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਰਦਾ, ਖੋਜੀ ਲਾਈ ਤੇ ਨਿਆਂਉਂ ਵਕੀਲ ਹੈ ਜੀ ।

1.     He is the son of the chief of Takhat Hazare, Ranjha is the caste, and he is Jat of superior ancestry.

2.     He is an innocent-looking lad with wise eyes and a kind disposition.

3.     His forehead shines with radiant light, and this friend is not miser in any way.

4.     He speaks confidently and can give arguments like a lawyer.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

76. ਚੂਚਕ (Chuhak)

1.     ਕੇਹੇ ਡੋਗਰਾਂ ਜੱਟਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਿਆਉਂ ਜਾਣੇ, ਪਰ੍ਹੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਲਾਵੜੇ ਲਾਈਆਂ ਦੇ ।

2.     ਪਾੜ ਝੀੜ ਕਰ ਆਂਵਦਾ ਕਿੱਤ ਦੇਸੋਂ, ਲੜਿਆ ਕਾਸ ਤੋਂ ਨਾਲ ਇਹ ਭਾਈਆਂ ਦੇ ।

3.     ਕਿਸ ਗੱਲ ਤੋਂ ਰੁਸਕੇ ਉਠ ਆਇਆ, ਲੜਿਆ ਕਾਸ ਤੋਂ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਜਾਈਆਂ ਦੇ ।

4.     ਵਾਰਿਸ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਤੇ ਸ਼ੌਕ ਆਇਆ ਵੇਖਣ ਮੁਖ ਸਿਆਲਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਜਾਈਆਂ ਦੇ ।

76. CHUCHAK

1.     He is unaware of the justice and dispute settlement system of Dogra Jats.

77. ਹੀਰ –HEER

1.     ਲਾਈ ਹੋਇ ਕੇ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਦੱਸ ਦੇਂਦਾ, ਮੁਨਸਫ ਹੋ ਵੱਢੇ ਫਾਹੇ ਫੇੜਿਆਂ ਦੇ ।

2.     ਬਾਹੋਂ ਪਕੜ ਕੇ ਕੰਢੇ ਦੇ ਪਾਰ ਲਾਵੇ, ਹਥੋਂ ਕਢ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਖੋਜ ਝੇੜਿਆਂ ਦੇ ।

3.     ਵਰ੍ਹੀ ਘਤ ਕੇ ਕਹੀ ਦੇ ਪਾੜ ਲਾਏ, ਸੱਥੋਂ ਕੱਢ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਖੋਜ ਝੇੜਿਆਂ ਦੇ ।

4.     ਧਾੜਾ ਧਾੜਵੀ ਤੋਂ ਮੋੜ ਲਿਆਂਵਦਾ ਹੈ, ਠੰਡ ਪਾਂਵਦਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਖੇੜਿਆਂ ਦੇ ।

5.     ਸਭ ਰਹੀ ਰਹੁੰਨੀ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਂਭ ਲਿਆਵੇ, ਅੱਖੀਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਖੇ ਵਾਂਗ ਹੇੜਿਆਂ ਦੇ ।

6.     ਵਾਰਿਸ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਜਵਾਨ ਹੈ ਭਲਾ ਰਾਂਝਾ, ਜਿੱਥੇ ਨਿੱਤ ਪੌਂਦੇ ਲਖ ਭੇੜਿਆਂ ਦੇ ।

ਸ਼ਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ, ਭੇੜੇ=ਲੜਾਈ,ਝਗੜੇ)

77. HEER

1.     He (Ranjha) can advise on the complex matters and deliver justice on disputed cases.

2.     He can take people to the other shore and help us in insulating from troublesome persons.

3.     Like a strong rope, he can throw out those who clash with us.

4.     He can bring back the loot from the robbers and cool down heated tempers.

5.     Single handily, he can manage all affairs with alertness.

6.     This young man is sincere and can be useful where people squabble daily.

 

 

 

 

 

78. ਚੂਚਕ ਦੀ ਮਨਜ਼ੂਰੀ

1.     ਤੇਰ ਆਖਣਾ ਅਸਾਂ ਮਨਜ਼ੂਰ ਕੀਤਾ, ਮਹੀਂ ਦੇ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕੇ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੀ ।

2.     ਖ਼ਬਰਦਾਰ ਰਹੇ ਮਝੀਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਖੜਾ, ਬੇਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੁਸੀਬਤਾਂ ਭਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੀ ।

3.     ਰਲਾ ਕਰੇ ਨਾਹੀਂ ਨਾਲ ਖੰਧਿਆਂ ਦੇ, ਏਸ ਕਦੇ ਨਾਹੀਂ ਮਝੀਂ ਚਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੀ ।

4.     ਮਤਾਂ ਖੇਡ ਰੁੱਝੇ ਖੜੀਆਂ ਜਾਣ ਮੱਝੀਂ, ਹੋਵਣ ਪਿੰਡ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਖ਼ੁਆਰੀਆਂ ਨੀ ।

(ਖੰਧਿਆਂ= ਚੌਣਾ,ਵੱਗ)

1.     The cause you champion is accepted by me. The boy can be given charge of the buffaloes.

2.     Ask him to be careful as it is no easy task to tend buffaloes in the fields.

3.     He should not mix with other persons, for he has never tended to the grazing activity.

4.     Let the buffaloes not create problems in the village by his pranks.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

79. ਹੀਰ ਨੇ ਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਖ਼ਬਰ ਦੱਸਣੀ (HEER GIVES THE NEWS TO THE MOTHER)

1.     ਪਾਸ ਮਾਉਂ ਦੇ ਨਢੜੀ ਗੱਲ ਕੀਤੀ, ਮਾਹੀ ਮਝੀਂ ਦਾ ਆਣ ਕੇ ਛੇੜਿਆ ਮੈਂ ।

2.     ਨਿੱਤ ਪਿੰਡ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਪੌਂਦੀ, ਏਹ ਝਗੜਾ ਚਾਇ ਨਿਬੇੜਿਆ ਮੈਂ ।

3.     ਸੁੰਞਾ ਨਿੱਤ ਰੁਲੇ ਮੰਗੂ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੇਲੇ, ਮਾਹੀ ਸੁਘੜ ਹੈ ਆਣ ਸਹੇੜਿਆ ਮੈਂ ।

4.     ਮਾਏਂ ਕਰਮ ਜਾਗੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਮੰਗੂਆਂ ਦੇ, ਸਾਊ ਅਸਲ ਜਟੇਟੜਾ ਘੇਰਿਆ ਮੈਂ ।

79. HEER GIVES THE NEWS TO THE MOTHER.

1.     Heer breaks the news of tending the buffaloes by Ranjha to her mother.

2.     The issue that has long been troubled the village-- at last has been settled.

3.     He (Ranjha) loiters in lonely pastures and attends to the buffaloes with care and attention.

4.     Oh mother, fortunate we are with this young man. A Jat, a real Jewel, now help us.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

80. ਰਾਂਝੇ ਨੂੰ ਹੀਰ ਦਾ ਉੱਤਰ (HEER RESPONDS TO RANJHA)

1.     ਮੱਖਣ ਖੰਡ ਪਰਉਂਠੇ ਖਾਹ ਮੀਆਂ, ਮਹੀਂ ਛੇੜ ਦੇ ਰਬ ਦੇ ਆਸਰੇ ਤੇ ।

2.     ਹੱਸਣ ਗੱਭਰੂ ਰਾਂਝਿਆ ਜਾਲ ਮੀਆਂ, ਗੁਜ਼ਰ ਆਵਸੀ ਦੁਧ ਦੇ ਕਾਸੜੇ ਤੇ ।

3.     ਹੀਰ ਆਖਦੀ ਰਬ ਰੱਜ਼ਾਕ ਤੇਰਾ, ਮੀਆਂ ਜਾਈਂ ਨਾ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਾਸੜੇ ਤੇ ।

4.     ਮਝੀਂ ਛੇੜ ਦੇ ਝੱਲ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੀਆਂ, ਆਪ ਹੋ ਬਹੀਂ ਇੱਕ ਪਾਸੜੇ ਤੇ ।

80. HEER RESPONDS TO RANJHA

1.     You enjoy butter, sugar, and buttered bread and leave the buffaloes to the care of the Lord.

2.     Ranjha, you should remain happy. I will bring you buttered stuff packed in a box.

3.     Heer says that God is your protector and giver and don't care about the jest of people around you.

4.     You play with the buffaloes and remain aloof.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

MEETING WITH FIVE PIRS

 

81. ਪੰਜਾਂ ਪੀਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮੁਲਾਕਾਤ (MEETING WITH FIVE PIRS)

1.     ਬੇਲੇ ਰਬ ਦਾ ਨਾਉਂ ਲੈ ਜਾਇ ਵੜਿਆ, ਹੋਇਆ ਧੁਪ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਜ਼ਹੀਰ ਮੀਆਂ ।

2.     ਉਹਦੀ ਨੇਕ ਸਾਇਤ ਰੁਜੂ ਆਣ ਹੋਈ, ਮਿਲੇ ਰਾਹ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਪੰਜ ਪੀਰ ਮੀਆਂ ।

3.     ਬੱਚਾ ਖਾਹ ਚੂਰੀ ਚੋਇ ਮਝ ਬੂਰੀ, ਜੀਊ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਾ ਹੋਇ ਦਿਲਗੀਰ ਮੀਆਂ ।

4.     ਕਾਈ ਨਢੜੀ ਸੋਹਨੀ ਕਰੋ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਿਸ਼, ਪੂਰੇ ਰਬ ਦੇ ਹੋ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਪੀਰ ਮੀਆਂ ।

5.     ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੀ ਹੀਰ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਥੀਂ ਤੁਧ ਤਾਈਂ, ਯਾਦ ਕਰੀਂ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਪਵੇ ਭੀੜ ਮੀਆਂ ।

(ਜ਼ਹੀਰ=ਦੁਖੀ, ਨੇਕ ਸਾਇਤ ਰੁਜੂ ਆਣ ਹੋਈ=ਸ਼ੁਭ ਘੜੀ ਆ ਗਈ,

ਦਿਲਗੀਰ=ਗ਼ਮਨਾਕ, ਭੀੜ=ਔਖਾ ਵੇਲਾ,ਤਕਲੀਫ਼)

81. MEETING WITH FIVE PIRS

1.     Ranjha called on the name of God and entered the forest. And the sun

smote him sore, and he was in great tribulation.

2.     Good fortune, however, came to him, and he met the Five Pirs' on the way.

3.     They said --Oh child, be blessed with a good life and not be remorseful.

4.     Ranjha says,—gift me, my beloved girl, for you, are the Pirs.

5.     Pirs say—you, Ranjha, have been blessed with Heer from the Divine Court, and you can always depend upon us ( remember us) when in distress.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

82. ਪੀਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਖਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ( BLESSINGS OF PIRS)

1.     ਖੁਆਜਾ ਖ਼ਿਜ਼ਰ ਤੇ ਸੱਕਰ ਗੰਜ ਬੋਜ਼ ਘੋੜੀ, ਮੁਲਤਾਨ ਦਾ ਜ਼ਕਰੀਆ ਪੀਰ ਨੂਰੀ ।

3.     ਤੁੱਰਾ ਖ਼ਿਜ਼ਰ ਰੁਮਾਲ ਸ਼ੱਕਰ ਗੰਜ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਅਤੇ ਮੁੰਦਰੀ ਲਾਲ ਸ਼ਹਿਬਾਜ਼ ਨੂਰੀ ।

4.     ਖੰਜਰ ਸਈਅੱਦ ਜਲਾਲ ਬੁਖਖ਼ਾਰੀਏ ਨੇ, ਖੂੰਡੀ ਜ਼ਕਰੀਏ ਪੀਰ ਨੇ ਹਿੱਕ ਬੂਰੀ ।

5.     ਤੈਨੂੰ ਭੀੜ ਪਵੇਂ ਕਰੀਂ ਯਾਦ ਜੱਟਾ, ਵਾਰਿਸ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਨਾ ਜਾਨਣਾ ਪਲਕ ਦੂਰੀ ।

1.     Ranjha sees the countenances of ---First Khwaja Khizr, (Lord of all the waters) then Shakarganj, (the holy saint of Pakpattan) on a white horse.

 

2.     Then Shahbaz Qalandar, (the holy saint of Uch,) and Zakaria Saint (of Multan), and Sayyid Jalal of Bukhara, (whom men also call Makhdum Jahanian).

3.     Ranjha was offered turban tuft by Khawja Khizr, a handkerchief by Baba Farid of Shakarganj, and a ring by the Lal Shahbaz, which was shining with radiant light.

4.     A small dagger was handed over by Syyaid Jajal Bukhari and a thick blanket by Saint Zakaria. 

5.     Oh, Jatt do remember (five of) us at the time of distress. We are as near as the flicker of an eye.

Notes-- 'Zakaria' is a reference to Baha-ud-Din Zakaria of Multan. Jalal of Bukkara or Jalal Bukhari, who Notes 'Pir' is an old man. It has come to mean a saint, dead or alive. The importance of a Pir' depends on the number of his disciples, or the visitors and offerings to his tomb, as the case may he Uch is an ancient town in Bahawalpur, now part of West Pakistan. It is famous for its Gilani and Bukhari Saints, who hailed originally from Gilan (Iraq) and Bukhara (Central Asia). Lal Shahbaz Qalandar is buried in Sind. Originally came from Uch, is also buried at Multan.

 

 

 

83. ਹੀਰ ਦਾ ਭੱਤਾ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਬੇਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਾ

1.     ਹੀਰ ਚਾਇ ਭੱਤਾ ਖੰਡ ਖੀਰ ਮੱਖਣ, ਮੀਆਂ ਰਾਂਝੇ ਦੇ ਪਾਸ ਲੈ ਧਾਂਵਦੀ ਹੈ ।

2.     ਤੇਰੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਜੂਹ ਮੈਂ ਭਾਲ ਥੱਕੀ, ਰੋ ਰੋ ਆਪਣਾ ਹਾਲ ਸੁਣਾਂਵਦੀ ਹੈ ।

3.     ਕੈਦੋਂ ਢੂੰਡਦਾ ਖੋਜ ਨੂੰ ਫਿਰੇ ਭੌਂਦਾ, ਬਾਸ ਚੂਰੀ ਦੀ ਬੇਲਿਉਂ ਆਂਵਦੀ ਹੈ ।

4.     ਵਾਰਿਸ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਮੀਆਂ ਵੇਖੋ ਟੰਗ ਲੰਗੀ, ਸ਼ੈਤਾਨ ਦੀ ਕਲ੍ਹਾ ਜਗਾਂਵਦੀ ਹੈ ।

1.     Heer takes the breakfast of wheat pastry early morning to Ranjha.

2.     Heer complains that she has been searching for him and tells her tales of woes by crying.

3.     She says—it is just like locating a prisoner who has run away from the jail, but the smell of theft comes from his belly.

84. ਕੈਦੋ ਰਾਂਝੇ ਕੋਲ (KAIDO COMES TO MEET RANJHA)

1.     ਹੀਰ ਗਈ ਜਾਂ ਨਦੀ ਵਲ ਲੈਣ ਪਾਣੀ, ਕੈਦੋ ਆਣ ਕੇ ਮੁਖ ਵਿਖਾਵਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।

2.     ਅਸੀਂ ਭੁਖ ਨੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੈਰਾਨ ਕੀਤੇ, ਆਨ ਸਵਾਲ ਖ਼ੁਦਾਇ ਦਾ ਪਾਂਵਦਾ ਹੈ ।

3.     ਰਾਂਝੇ ਰੁਗ ਭਰ ਕੇ ਚੂਰੀ ਚਾਇ ਦਿੱਤੀ, ਲੈ ਕੇ ਤੁਰਤ ਹੀ ਪਿੰਡ ਨੂੰ ਧਾਂਵਦਾ ਹੈ ।

4.     ਰਾਂਝਾ ਹੀਰ ਨੂੰ ਪੁੱਛਦਾ ਇਹ ਲੰਙਾਂ, ਹੀਰੇ ਕੌਣ ਫ਼ਕੀਰ ਕਿਸ ਥਾਉਂ ਦਾ ਹੈ ।

5.     ਵਾਰਿਸ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਮੀਆਂ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਪੱਛ ਕੇ ਤੇ, ਕੋਈ ਉੱਪਰੋਂ ਲੂਣ ਚਾ ਲਾਂਵਦਾ ਹੈ ।

84. (KAIDO COMES TO MEET RANJHA)

1.     Heer proceeds to the river to fetch water. Kaido comes and shows his face Ranjha.

2.     He (Kaido) pleads that a hungry stomach is perturbing him---I swear in the name of God.

3.     Ranjha hands him over the sweet bread (pastry), and Kaido runs away towards the village.

4.     Ranjha asks Heer who this man is with a crippled leg, which appears like a faqir. Where does he belong?

5.     Heer felt pain as if someone is rubbing salt on the wound—by asking about  Kaido—writes Waris Shah.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

85. ਹੀਰ (HEER REPLIES)

1.     ਹੀਰ ਆਖਿਆ ਰਾਂਝਿਆ ਬੁਰਾ ਕੀਤੋ, ਸਾਡਾ ਕੰਮ ਹੈ ਨਾਲ ਵੈਰਾਈਆਂ ਦੇ ।

2.     ਸਾਡੇ ਖੋਜ ਨੂੰ ਤਕ ਕੇ ਕਰੇ ਚੁਗਲੀ, ਦਿਨੇ ਰਾਤ ਹੈ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੁਰਿਆਈਆਂ ਦੇ ।

3.     ਮਿਲੇ ਸਿਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਵਿਛੋੜ ਦੇਂਦਾ, ਭੰਗ ਘੱਤਦਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੁੜਮਾਈਆਂ ਦੇ ।

4.     ਬਾਬਾਲ ਅੰਮੜੀ ਤੇ ਜਾਇ ਠਿਠ ਕਰਸੀ, ਜਾ ਆਖਸੀ ਪਾਸ ਭਰਜਾਈਆਂ ਦੇ ।

1.     ਹੀਰ ਆਖਿਆ ਰਾਂਝਿਆ ਬੁਰਾ ਕੀਤੋ, ਤੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਪੁੱਛਣਾ ਸੀ ਦੁਹਰਾਇਕੇ ਤੇ ।

2.     ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਾਂ ਇਹ ਸੂਹਾਂ, ਖ਼ੈਰ ਮੰਗਿਆ ਸੂ ਮੈਥੋਂ ਆਇਕੇ ਤੇ ।

3.     ਖੈਰ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹੀ ਪਿਛਾਂਹ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਤ ਭੰਨਾ, ਉਠ ਵਗਿਆ ਕੰਡ ਵਲਾਇਕੇ ਤੇ ।

4.     ਨੇੜੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਈ ਜਾਇ ਮਿਲ ਨੱਢੀਏ ਨੀ, ਜਾਹ ਪੁੱਛ ਲੈ ਗੱਲ ਸਮਝਾਇਕੇ ਤੇ ।

5.     ਵਾਰਿਸ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਮੀਆਂ ਉਸ ਥੋਂ ਗੱਲ ਪੁੱਛੀਂ, ਦੋ ਤਿੰਨ ਅੱਡੀਆਂ ਹਿਕ ਵਿਚ ਲਾਇਕੇ ਤੇ ।

86 CONVERSATION

1.     Heer replies, Ranjha, that the incident is ominous, and you should have asked him who he is.

2.     Ranjha says --I could not guess that this man was trying to speculate about our relationship in the garb of charity.

3.     Immediately after taking his pastry (sweet bread), he got up, turned his back, and went away.

4.     He may not have gone far away, go and meet him, oh girl (Heer) and make him (Kaido) understand.

5.     Hit him with his legs on his chest, and question him (Kaido) of his intention---so writes Waris Shah

1.     ਮਿਲੀ ਰਾਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੌੜ ਦੇ ਆ ਨਢੀ, ਪਹਿਲੇ ਨਾਲ ਫ਼ਰੇਬ ਦੇ ਚੱਟਿਆ ਸੂ ।

2.     ਨੇੜੇ ਆਣ ਕੇ ਸ਼ੀਹਣੀ ਵਾਂਗ ਗੱਜੀ ,ਅੱਖੀਂ ਰੋਹ ਦਾ ਨੀਰ ਪਲੱਟਿਆ ਸੂ ।

3.     ਸਿਰੋਂ ਲਾਹ ਟੋਪੀ ਗਲੋਂ ਤੋੜ ਸੇਲ੍ਹੀ, ਲੱਕੋਂ ਚਾਇਕੇ ਜ਼ਿਮੀਂ ਤੇ ਸੱਟਿਆ ਸੂ ।

4.     ਪਕੜ ਜ਼ਮੀ ਤੇ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਨਾਲ ਗੁੱਸੇ, ਧੋਬੀ ਪਟੜੇ ਤੇ ਖੇਸ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਟਿਆ ਸੂ ।

5.     ਵਾਰਿਸ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਫਰਿਸ਼ਤਿਆਂ ਅਰਸ਼ ਉੱਤੋਂ, ਸ਼ੈਤਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਜ਼ਿਮੀਂ ਤੇ ਸੱਟਿਆ ਸੂ ।

87. CO- INCIDENTAL MEETING OF HEER WITH KAIDO

1.     Heer ran and overtook Kaido on the way and told him of his cunningness.

2.     She roars like a tigress at Kaido, and her eyes turned red with tears.

3.     She throws his cap away, breaks the rope of beads around his neck, and throws him on the ground.

4.     She hits Kaido with wrath as if a washerman is beating clothes on the washing board.

88. ਹੀਰ ਨੇ ਕੈਦੋਂ ਨੂੰ ਡਰਾਉਣਾ (HEER THREATENS KAIDO)

1.     ਹੀਰ ਢਾਇ ਕੇ ਆਖਿਆ ਮੀਆਂ ਚਾਚਾ, ਚੂਰੀ ਦੇਹ ਜੇ ਜੀਵਿਆ ਲੋੜਨਾ ਹੈਂ ।

2.     ਨਹੀਂ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਜਿੰਦ ਗਵਾ ਦੇਸਾਂ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਨਾ ਹਟਕਣਾ ਹੋੜਨਾ ਹੈਂ ।

3.     ਬੰਨ੍ਹ ਪੈਰ ਤੇ ਹੱਥ ਲਟਕਾਇ ਦੇਸਾਂ, ਲੜ ਲੜਕੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਕੀ ਜੋੜਨਾ ਹੈਂ ।

4.     ਚੂਰੀ ਦੇਹ ਖਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਹਯਾ ਆਪੇ, ਕਾਹੇ ਅਸਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਅਜੋੜਨਾ ਹੈਂ ।

88. HEER THREATENS KAIDO)

1.     After throwing Kaido on the ground, Heer asked him to return the sweet bread (taken from Ranjha)

1.     ਅੱਧੀ ਡੁੱਲ੍ਹ ਪਈ ਅੱਧੀ ਖੋਹ ਲਈ, ਚੁਣ ਮੇਲ ਕੇ ਪਰ੍ਹੇ ਵਿਚ ਲਿਆਂਵਦਾ ਈ ।

2.     ਕਿਹਾ ਮੰਨਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਾਉ ਮੂਲ ਮੇਰਾ, ਚੂਰੀ ਪੱਲਿਉਂ ਖੋਲ ਵਿਖਾਂਵਦਾ ਈ ।

3.     ਨਾਹੀਂ ਚੂਚਕੇ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਮਤ ਦੇਂਦਾ, ਨਢੀ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਾਂਵਦਾ ਈ ।

4.     ਚਾਕ ਨਾਲ ਇਕੱਲੜੀ ਜਾਏ ਬੇਲੇ, ਅੱਜ ਕਲ ਕੋਈ ਲੀਕ ਲਾਂਵਦਾ ਈ ।

5.     ਵਾਰਿਸ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਜਦੋਕਣਾ ਚਾਕ ਰੱਖਿਆ, ਓਸ ਵੇਲੜੇ ਨੂੰ ਪਛੋਤਾਂਵਦਾ ਈ ।

89. (KAIDO BEGS AT THE FEET OF HEER)

1.     Kaido tries to collect the spilled pieces of sweetened bread and puts them together.

2.     Please accept my pleadings that I have no more sweet bread with me.

3.     I will not speak about it to your father Chuchak--- Heer, I have learned a lesson from your beatings.

4.     Writes Waris Shah—that Heer meeting alone Ranjha in the grazing pastures can scandalize her any moment.

90. ਚੂਚਕ ( CHUCHAK)

1.     ਚੂਚਕ ਆਖਿਆ ਕੂੜੀਆਂ ਕਰੇਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ, ਹੀਰ ਖੇਡਦੀ ਨਾਲ ਸਹੇਲੀਆਂ ਦੇ ।

2.     ਪੀਂਘਾਂ ਪਇਕੇ ਸੱਈਆਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਝੂਟੇ, ਤ੍ਰਿੰਞਣ ਜੋੜਦੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਵੇਲੀਆਂ ਦੇ ।

3.     ਇਹ ਚੁਗ਼ਲ ਜਹਾਨ ਦਾ ਮਗਰ ਲੱਗਾ, ਫ਼ੱਕਰ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹੋ ਨਾਲ ਸੇਲ੍ਹੀਆਂ ਦੇ ।

4.     ਕਦੀ ਨਾਲ ਮਦਾਰੀਆਂ ਭੰਗ ਘੋਟੇ, ਕਦੀ ਜਾਇ ਨੱਚੇ ਨਾਲ ਚੇਲੀਆਂ ਦੇ ।

5.     ਨਹੀਂ ਚੂਹੜੇ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤ ਹੋਏ ਸਈਅਦ, ਘੋੜੇ ਹੋਣ ਨਾਹੀਂ ਪੁੱਤ ਲੇਲੀਆਂ ਦੇ ।

6.     ਵਾਰਿਸ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਫ਼ਕੀਰ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੇ, ਬੇਟੇ ਜੱਟਾਂ ਤੇ ਮੋਚੀਆਂ ਤੇਲੀਆਂ ਦੇ ।

90. CHUCHAK –

1.     Chuchak says that her friends tell him that Heer plays with them.

2.     She enjoys on the suspended swings along with the group of her friends or plays in his mansions.

3.     This world is slanderous, and the gossip is the cause of worry.

4.     She goes with magicians to dance with their assistants. 

5.     Then Chuchak muses—that the sons of low-caste sweepers cannot attain holiness of Sayyed's. Nor lambs can give birth to horses.

6.     Faqirs (holy men) are never sons of Jatt, cobblers, and oilseed crushers.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

91. ਹੀਰ ਦੀ ਮਾਂ ਕੋਲ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਚੁਗ਼ਲੀ (WOMEN COMPLAIN ABOUT HEER TO HER MOTHER)

1.     ਮਾਂ ਹੀਰ ਦੀ ਥੇ ਲੋਕ ਕਰਨ ਚੁਗ਼ਲੀ, ਮਹਿਰੀ ਮਲਕੀਏ ਧੀ ਖ਼ਰਾਬ ਹੈ ਨੀ ।

2.     ਅਸੀਂ ਮਾਸੀਆਂ ਫੁਫੀਆਂ ਲਜ ਮੋਈਆਂ, ਸਾਡਾ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਜੀਉ ਕਬਾਬ ਹੈ ਨੀ ।

3.     ਸ਼ਮਸੁੱਦੀਨ ਕਾਜ਼ੀ ਨਿਤ ਕਰੇ ਮਸਲੇ, ਸ਼ੋਖ਼ ਧੀ ਦਾ ਵਿਆਹ ਸਵਾਬ ਹੈ ਨੀ ।

4.     ਚਾਕ ਨਾਲ ਇਕੱਲੀਆਂ ਜਾਣ ਧੀਆਂ, ਹੋਇਆ ਮਾਪਿਆਂ ਧੁਰੋਂ ਜਵਾਬ ਹੈ ਨੀ ।

5.     ਤੇਰੀ ਧੀ ਦਾ ਮਗ਼ਜ਼ ਹੈ ਬੇਗ਼ਮਾਂ ਦਾ, ਵੇਖੋ ਚਾਕ ਜਿਉਂ ਫਿਰੇ ਨਵਾਬ ਹੈ ਨੀ ।

6.     ਵਾਰਿਸ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਮੂੰਹ ਉਂਗਲਾਂ ਲੋਕ ਘੱਤਣ, ਧੀ ਮਲਕੀ ਦੀ ਪੁੱਜ ਖ਼ਰਾਬ ਹੈ ਨੀ ।

91. ( WOMEN COMPLAIN ABOUT HEER TO HER MOTHER--MILKI)

1.     Village women complain to Milki, Heer's mother, that her daughter is immoral and of shady character.

2.     We, aunts, are ashamed and are upset within.

3.     Qazi Sham-Us- Dinn daily refers that such is the gift of the chief of the village.

4.     That can the daughters accompany in seclusion with the Chak, Ranjha, the servant—is the question I ask from Heer's parents.

5.     Your daughter believes that she is a princess, and the Chak, the servant Ranjha walks like a Nawab.

6.     People indulge in gossip that the daughter of Milki is disgraceful.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

92. ਕੈਦੋ ਦੀ ਹੀਰ ਦੀ ਮਾਂ ਕੋਲ ਚੁਗ਼ਲੀ KAIDO COMPLAINS ABOUT HEER TO HER MOTHER

 

1.     ਕੈਦੋ ਆਖਦਾ ਧੀ ਵਿਆਹ ਮਲਕੀ, ਧਰੋਹੀ ਰਬ ਦੀ ਮੰਨ ਲੈ ਡਾਇਣੇ ਨੀ ।

2.     ਇੱਕੇ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਵੱਢ ਕੇ ਕਰਸੁ ਬੇਰੇ, ਮੂੰਹ ਸਿਰ ਭੰਨ ਚੋਆਂ ਸਾੜ ਸਾਇਣੇ ਨੀ ।

3.     ਵੇਖ ਧੀ ਦਾ ਲਾਡ ਕੀ ਦੰਦ ਕੱਢੇਂ, ਬਹੁਤ ਝੂਰਸੇਂ ਰੰਨੇ ਕਸਾਇਣੇ ਨੀ ।

1.     ਗ਼ੁੱਸੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਲਕੀ ਤਪ ਲਾਲ ਹੋਈ, ਝੱਬ ਦੌੜ ਤੂੰ ਮਿੱਠੀਏ ਨਾਇਣੇ ਨੀ ।

2.     ਸਦ ਲਿਆ ਤੂੰ ਹੀਰ ਨੂੰ ਢੂੰਡ ਕੇ ਤੇ, ਤੈਨੂੰ ਮਾਉਂ ਸਦੇਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਡਾਇਣੇ ਨੀ ।

3.     ਨੀ ਖੜਦੁੰਬੀਏ ਮੂਨੇ ਪਾੜ੍ਹੀਏ ਨੀ, ਮੁਸ਼ਟੰਡੀਏ ਬਾਰ ਦੀਏ ਵਾਇਣੇ ਨੀ ।

4.     ਵਾਰਿਸ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਕਿਤੇ ਡੁਬ ਮੋਏਂ, ਘਰ ਆ ਸਿਆਪੇ ਦੀਏ ਨਾਇਣੇ ਨੀ ।

1.     ਹੀਰ ਆਇ ਕੇ ਆਖਦੀ ਹੱਸ ਕੇ ਤੇ, ਅਨੀ ਝਾਤ ਨੀ ਅੰਬੜੀਏ ਮੇਰੀਏ ਨੀ ।

2.     ਤੈਨੂੰ ਡੂੰਘੜੇ ਖੂਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਚਾਇ ਬੋੜਾਂ, ਕੁੱਲ ਪੱਟੀਉ ਬਚੜੀਏ ਮੇਰੀਏ ਨੀ ।

3.     ਧੀ ਜਵਾਨ ਜੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਬੁਰੀ ਹੋਵੇ, ਚੁਪ ਕੀਤੜੇ ਚਾ ਨਬੇੜੀਏ ਨੀ ।

4.     ਤੈਨੂੰ ਵੱਡਾ ਉਦਮਾਦ ਆ ਜਾਗਿਆ ਏ, ਤੇਰੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਮੁਣਸ ਸਹੇੜੀਏ ਨੀ ।

5.     ਧੀ ਜਵਾਨ ਜੇ ਨਿਕਲੇ ਘਰੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ, ਲੱਗੇ ਵੱਸ ਤਾਂ ਖੂਹ ਨਘੇਰੀਏ ਨੀ ।

6.     ਵਾਰਿਸ ਜਿਉਂਦੇ ਹੋਣ ਜੇ ਭੈਣ ਭਾਈ, ਚਾਕ ਚੋਬਰਾਂ ਨਾਂਹ ਸਹੇੜੀਏ ਨੀ ।

1.     Heer appeared and laughingly said —Mother, see I am here.

2.     And Milki said—will like to toss you in deep well for you have tarnished the reputation of the family

3.     A grown-up daughter, if she lacks integrity, should be killed quietly.

4.     You seem to be stuck with lusty passion for your lover; we shall have to find a husband for you.

5.     If a grown-up daughter ventures outside her father's house, she should be tossed in a well,  given an option.

1.     ਤੇਰੇ ਵੀਰ ਸੁਲਤਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਖ਼ਬਰ ਹੋਵੇ, ਕਰੇ ਫਿਕਰ ਉਹ ਤੇਰੇ ਮੁਕਾਵਣੇ ਦਾ ।

2.     ਚੂਚਕ ਬਾਪ ਦੇ ਰਾਜ ਨੂੰ ਲੀਕ ਲਾਈਆ, ਕੇਹਾ ਫ਼ਾਇਦਾ ਮਾਪਿਆਂ ਤਾਵਣੇ ਦਾ ।

3.     ਨਕ ਵੱਢ ਕੇ ਕੋੜਮਾਂ ਗਾਲਿਉ ਈ, ਹੋਇਆ ਫ਼ਾਇਦਾ ਲਾਡ ਲਡਾਵਣੇ ਦਾ ।

4.     ਰਾਤੀਂ ਚਾਕ ਨੂੰ ਚਾਇ ਜਵਾਬ ਦੇਸਾਂ, ਨਹੀਂ ਸ਼ੌਕ ਏ ਮਹੀਂ ਚਰਵਾਣੇ ਦਾ ।

5.     ਆ ਮਿੱਠੀਏ ਲਾਹ ਨੀ ਸਭ ਗਹਿਣੇ, ਗੁਣ ਕੀ ਹੈ ਗਹਿਣਿਆਂ ਪਾਵਣੇ ਦਾ ।

6.     ਵਾਰਿਸ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਮੀਆਂ ਛੋਹਰੀ ਦਾ, ਜੀਉ ਹੋਇਆ ਈ ਲਿੰਗ ਕੁਟਾਵਣੇ ਦਾ ।

4.     I will dismiss Chak, Ranjha at night—no need to engage him in buffalo grazing.

5.     Oh, Mithi(the barber woman), remove all her ornaments—they are of no use.

1.     ਮਾਏ ਰੱਬ ਨੇ ਚਾਕ ਘਰ ਘੱਲਿਆ ਸੀ, ਤੇਰੇ ਹੋਣ ਨਸੀਬ ਜੇ ਧੁਰੋਂ ਚੰਗੇ ।

2.     ਇਹੋ ਜਹੇ ਜੇ ਆਦਮੀ ਹੱਥ ਆਵਣ, ਸਾਰਾ ਮੁਲਕ ਹੀ ਰਬ ਥੀਂ ਦੁਆ ਮੰਗੇ ।

3.     ਜਿਹੜੇ ਰਬ ਕੀਤੇ ਕੰਮ ਹੋਇ ਰਹੇ, ਸਾਨੂੰ ਮਾਂਓਂ ਕਿਉਂ ਗ਼ੈਬ ਦੇ ਦਏਂ ਪੰਗੇ ।

4.     ਕੁੱਲ ਸਿਆਣਿਆਂ ਮਲਕ ਨੂੰ ਮੱਤ ਦਿੱਤੀ, ਤੇਗ਼ ਮਹਿਰੀਆਂ ਇਸ਼ਕ ਨਾ ਕਰੋ ਨੰਗੇ ।

5.     ਨਹੀਂ ਛੇੜੀਏ ਰੱਬ ਦਿਆਂ ਪੂਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੱਪੜੇ ਖ਼ਾਕ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੰਗੇ ।

6.     ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਇਸ਼ਕ ਦੇ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਸਿਰੀਂ ਚਾਏ, ਵਾਰਿਸ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਨਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਥੋਂ ਰਹਿਣ ਸੰਗੇ ।

 

96.  RESPONSE OF HEER

1.     And Heer replied, 'Mother, I am very fortunate that God has sent this

cowherd to your house.

 

2.     All men thank God when they get such a treasured man is given them.

3.     What the Pen of Destiny has written has come to pass. Why do you interfere about this mystical affair?

 

4.     Wise persons have advised that three things be kept secret—fire, a sore, and Love(ishq).

5.      Never criticize lovers of God who have annihilated themselves to dust. 

 

6.     Says Waris Shah--- when a love affair must materialize, nothing remains lacking.

                         

 

 

 

 

 

 

97. ਹੀਰ ਦੇ ਮਾਂ ਪਿਉ ਦੀ ਸਲਾਹ (HEER’S MOTHER CONSULTS HER FATHER)

1.     ਮਲਕੀ ਆਖ਼ਦੀ ਚੂਚਕਾ ਬਣੀ ਔਖੀ, ਸਾਨੂੰ ਹੀਰ ਦਿਆਂ ਮਿਹਣਿਆਂ ਖ਼ੁਆਰ ਕੀਤਾ ।

2.     ਤਾਹਨੇ ਦੇਣ ਸ਼ਰੀਕ ਤੇ ਲੋਕ ਸਾਰੇ, ਚੌਤਰਫਿਉਂ ਖੁਆਰ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ।

3.     ਵੇਖੋ ਲੱਜ ਸਿਆਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਲਾਹ ਸੁੱਟੀ, ਨਢੀ ਹੀਰ ਨੇ ਚਾਕ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ।

4.     ਜਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਮੱਤ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਅੱਗੋਂ ਲੜਨ ਲੱਗੀ, ਲੱਜ ਲਾਹ ਕੇ ਚਸ਼ਮ ਨੂੰ ਚਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ।

5.     ਕੱਢ ਚਾਕ ਨੂੰ ਖੋਹ ਲੈ ਮਹੀਂ ਸੱਭੇ, ਅਸਾਂ ਚਾਕ ਥੋਂ ਜੀਉ ਬੇਜ਼ਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ।

6.     ਇੱਕੇ ਧੀ ਨੂੰ ਚਾਘੜੇ ਡੋਬ ਕਰੀਏ, ਜਾਣੋਂ ਰਬ ਨੇ ਚਾ ਗੁਨ੍ਹਾਗਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ।

7.     ਝੱਬ ਵਿਆਹ ਕਰ ਧੀ ਨੂੰ ਕੱਢ ਦੇਸੋਂ, ਸਾਨੂੰ ਠਿਠ ਹੈ ਏਸ ਮੁਰਦਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ।

8.     ਵਾਰਿਸ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਹੀਰ ਫ਼ੁਆਰ ਕੀਤਾ, ਨਹੀਂ ਰੱਬ ਸੀ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਸਰਦਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ।

1.     Milki tells Chuchak we are in trouble. The taunts about Heer has made us miserable.

2.     All kith and kin from all sides speak sarcastically.

3.     She has leveled the pride to dust by being friendly with Ranjha.

4.     When I (Milki) explained to her (Heer), she is not ashamed of arguing with me.

5.     Dismiss Ranjha from supervising the cowherd. Ranjha has messed up our lives.

6.     He has hurled our daughter in well as if God has reprimanded us.

7.     Get Heer married immediately because of the fun people make all of us.

8.     Says Waris Shah—Heer has perplexed her parents, while God has blessed them.

1.     ਚੂਚਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਮਲਕੀਏ ਜੰਮਦੀ ਨੂੰ, ਗਲ ਘੁਟਕੇ ਕਾਹੇ ਨਾ ਮਾਰਿਉ ਈ ।

2.     ਘੁੱਟੀ ਅੱਕ ਦੀ ਘੋਲ ਨਾ ਦਿੱਤੀਆ ਈ, ਉਹ ਅੱਜ ਸਵਾਬ ਨਿਤਾਰਿਉ ਈ ।

3.     ਮੰਝ ਡੂੰਘੜੇ ਵਹਿਣ ਨਾ ਬੋੜਿਆ ਈ, ਵੱਢ ਬੋੜ ਕੇ ਮੂਲ ਨਾ ਮਾਰਿਉ ਈ ।

4.     ਵਾਰਿਸ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਖ਼ੁਦਾ ਦਾ ਖ਼ੌਫ਼ ਕੀਤੋ, ਕਾਰੂੰ ਵਾਂਗ ਨਾ ਜ਼ਿਮੀਂ ਨਿਘਾਰਿਉ ਈ ।

ਵਿੱਚ ਇਹਦਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਰਸੂਖ ਸੀ ।ਇਹਦਾ ਨਾਂ ਵੱਡੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜਿਆ

ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ । ਕਿਹਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਹਦੇ ਖਜ਼ਾਨਿਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਚਾਬੀਆਂ ਚਾਲੀ

ਊਠਾਂ ਤੇ ਲੱਦੀਆਂ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਸਨ । ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਰਾਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਦਮੜੀ ਵੀ

ਖਰਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਸੀ । ਅਖੀਰ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਕਹਿਰ ਨਾਲ ਸਣੇ ਮਾਲ ਧਨ

ਧਰਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਧਸ ਗਿਆ)

 

98. CHUCHAK REPLIES

 

1.     Chuchak asks Milki --why you did not suffocate her when she was born.

 

2.     Or poisoned Heer.  We could have avoided this( terrible) gift.

 

3.     You could have cut the roots of this tree ( Heer).

 

4.     Says Waris Shah--- for fear of God, you could have buried her underground like Karu.

Note-- (The way God buried underground, wealthy arrogant person Karu—through an earthquake at night during the time of Moses and Pharos. )

1.     ਰਾਤੀਂ ਰਾਂਝੇ ਨੇ ਮਹੀਂ ਜਾਂ ਆਣ ਢੋਈਆਂ, ਚੂਚਕ ਸਿਆਲ ਮੱਥੇ ਵੱਟ ਪਾਇਆ ਈ ।

1.     When Ranjha brought the buffaloes back that night, Chuchak was in a temper.

2.     He told her--Leave these buffaloes and quit this place. I have observed your misconduct.

3.     You are of no use to us. Go from where you came.

4.     I did not engage a bull-like you for my cows to be taken to pastures.  (meaning Chuchak did not hire Ranjha for taking girls to the pastures in forests.)

6.     ਤੇਰੀ ਧੀ ਨੂੰ ਅਸੀਂ ਕੀ ਜਾਣਨੇ ਹਾਂ, ਤੈਨੂੰ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਪਹਾੜ ਮੀਆਂ ।

1.     Thereupon Ranjha threw down his shepherd’s crook and blanket and quitted Chuchak’s herd of cattle.

2.     Even as a thief leaves the hole in the wall when he hears the watchman's footsteps.

3.     In disgust of leaving the village, he spoke to Chuchak in  anger--

4.     "May thieves take away your buffaloes, and dacoits run away with your calves.

5.     What do I care for your buffaloes or daughter?

6.     I know your daughter, who appears very endearing to you.

7.     For your buffaloes, I have worked mid-nights, and then you reprimand me.

8.     For the sake of work, I liked cow grazing. Now take care of your buffaloes.

9.     Should you tend the buffaloes for a short while, you will regret your decision.

10.I have spent 12 months (meaning a long time) in cow grazing, and now you have decided to overthrow me.

11.You are looting me like a Bania' whose ledger stays quietly in his shop while the interest swells into a mountain.

12.Your daughter stayed in her house, and you got my services for nothing.

13.You did all because of your stubbornness and made me bankrupt (meaning dismissed me without any payment)

1.     ਮਝੀਂ ਚਰਨ ਨਾ ਬਾਝ ਰੰਝੇਟੜੇ ਦੇ, ਮਾਹੀ ਹੋਰ ਸਭੇ ਝਖ਼ ਮਾਰ ਰਹੇ ।

2.     ਕਾਈ ਘੁਸ ਜਾਏ ਕਾਈ ਡੁਬ ਜਾਏ, ਕਾਈ ਸਨ੍ਹ ਰਹੇ ਕਾਈ ਪਾਰ ਰਹੇ ।

3.     ਸਿਆਲ ਪਕੜ ਹਥਿਆਰ ਤੇ ਹੋ ਖੁੰਮਾਂ, ਮਗਰ ਲਗ ਕੇ ਖੋਲੀਆਂ ਚਾਰ ਰਹੇ ।

4.     ਵਾਰਿਸ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਚੂਚਕ ਪਛੋਤਾਂਵਦਾ ਈ, ਮੰਗੂ ਨਾ ਛਿੜੇ, ਅਸੀਂ ਹਾਰ ਰਹੇ ।

1.     The buffaloes refused to graze without Ranjha, despite best efforts by Chuchak.

2.     Some were lost, some were drowned; others were stolen or went away further to the river bank.

3.     The Sials made attempts to recover their cattle but to no purpose.

2.     ਜਦੋਂ ਹੀਰ ਪਾ ਡੋਲੀ ਟੋਰ ਦੇਈਏ, ਰੁਸ ਪਵੇ ਜਵਾਬ ਤਾਂ ਚਾਇ ਦੇਈਏ ।

3.     ਸਾਡੀ ਧੀਉ ਦਾ ਕੁੱਝ ਨਾ ਲਾਹ ਲੈਂਦਾ, ਸਭ ਟਹਿਲ ਟਕੋਰ ਕਰਾਇ ਲਈਏ ।

3.     He cannot harm our daughter Heer. Let him serve us as much as possible.

2.     ਸਾਡੇ ਮਾਹੀ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਬਰ ਹੈ ਕਿਤੇ ਅੜਿਉ, ਕਿਧਰ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਪਛਤਾਵਿਆਂ ਦਾ ।

3.     ਜ਼ਰਾ ਹੀਰ ਕੁੜੀ ਉਹਨੂੰ ਸੱਦਦੀ ਹੈ, ਰੰਗ ਧੋਵੇ ਪਲੰਘ ਦੇ ਪਾਵਿਆਂ ਦਾ ।

4.     ਰਾਂਝਾ ਬੋਲਿਆ ਸੱਥਰੋਂ ਭੰਨ ਆਕੜ, ਇਹ ਜੇ ਪਿਆ ਸਰਦਾਰ ਨਿਥਾਵਿਆਂ ਦਾ ।

1.     Milki goes in search in the courtyard to enquire from her brothers and their wives.

 

2.     Do you have any idea about our cowherd man (Ranjha), where he has gone in guilt?

 

3.     Heer is calling her to wash the color stuck on the legs of her sleeping couch.

 

4.     Ranjha replies to Milki---  shed your fake arrogance, and here I am that none cares.

 

5.     He wipes his headband clean to cover his head like a young man.

 

6.     Writes Waris Shah---Ranjha felt relieved with bated breath as if a thief has discovered the treasure he is looking for.

2.     ਕੇਹਾ ਮਾਪਿਆਂ ਪੁਤਰਾਂ ਲੜਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ, ਤੁਸਾਂ ਖੱਟਣਾ ਤੇ ਅਸਾਂ ਖਾਵਣਾ ਈ ।

3.     ਛਿੜ ਮਾਲ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਮੈਂ ਘੋਲ ਘੱਤੀ, ਸ਼ਾਮੋ ਸ਼ਾਮ ਰਾਤੀਂ ਘਰੀਂ ਆਵਣਾ ਈ ।

107.  MILKI CONSOLES RANJHA

 

1.     MILKI says that squabbles with Chuchak, don't take them seriously.

2.     Parents and sons usually have arguments. Both of you earn, and we make our living.

3.     I am daily stuck with left-over work. You must come home at night.

4.     You have to milk the cow and convert it into curd. Lay the bed of Heer.

5.     If Heer is annoyed with you for any reason, you have to appease her.

6.     Oh Ranjha, all the buffaloes and Heer are your responsibility. You have to take care of them and also nourish them.

7.     Writes Waris shah –after hearing the advice to his satisfaction, Ranjha abandoned the idea of returning Takhat Hazare.

2.     ਮੀਆਂ ਮੰਨ ਲਏ ਓਸ ਦੇ ਆਖਣੇ ਨੂੰ, ਤੇਰੀ ਹੀਰ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਦੀ ਅੰਮੜੀ ਹੈ ।

3.     ਕੀ ਜਾਣੀਏ ਉੱਠ ਕਿਸ ਘੜੀ ਬਹਿਸੀ, ਅਜੇ ਵਿਆਹ ਦੀ ਵਿੱਥ ਤਾਂ ਲੰਮੜੀ ਹੈ ।

1.     ਰਾਂਝਾ ਹੀਰ ਦੀ ਮਾਉਂ ਦੇ ਲਗ ਆਖੇ, ਛੇੜ ਮੱਝੀਆਂ ਝੱਲ ਨੂੰ ਆਂਵਦਾ ਹੈ ।

2.     ਮੰਗੂ ਵਾੜ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਝਾਂਗੜੇ ਦੇ, ਆਪ ਨਹਾਇਕੇ ਰੱਬ ਧਿਆਂਵਦਾ ਹੈ ।

3.     ਹੀਰ ਸੱਤੂਆਂ ਦਾ ਮਗਰ ਘੋਲ ਛੰਨਾ, ਵੇਖੋ ਰਿਜ਼ਕ ਰੰਝੇਟੇ ਦਾ ਆਂਵਦਾ ਹੈ ।

1.     Abiding  the advice of Heer’s mother,  Ranjha resumes work of herdsman.

2.     Ranjha drove the cattle in the forest.  He takes a bath and thanks, God.

3.     And Heer brought him roasted barley and wheat flour mixed with Sherbet.

4.     One day five Pirs appeared before Ranjha. He bowed himself to the ground.  Heer and Ranjha were both present, and Pirs said.

111. ਕਾਜ਼ੀ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਂ ਬਾਪ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਹੀਰ ਨੂੰ ਨਸੀਹਤ ( QAZI AND PARENTS COUNSEL HEER)

1.     ਹੀਰ ਵੱਤ ਕੇ ਬੇਲਿਉਂ ਘਰੀਂ ਆਈ, ਮਾਂ ਬਾਪ ਕਾਜ਼ੀ ਸੱਦ ਲਿਆਉਂਦੇ ਨੇ ।

2.     ਦੋਵੇ ਆਪ ਬੈਠੇ ਅਤੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਾਜ਼ੀ, ਅਤੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਹੀਰ ਬਹਾਉਂਦੇ ਨੇ ।

3.     ਬੱਚਾ ਹੀਰ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਅਸੀਂ ਮੱਤ ਦਿੰਦੇ, ਮਿੱਠੀ ਨਾਲ ਜ਼ਬਾਨ ਸਮਝਾਉਂਦੇ ਨੇ ।

4.     ਚਾਕ ਚੋਬਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਨਾ ਗੱਲ ਕੀਜੇ, ਇਹ ਮਿਹਨਤੀ ਕਿਹੜੇ ਥਾਉਂ ਦੇ ਨੇ ।

5.     ਤ੍ਰਿੰਞਣ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰੀਂ ਬਹੀਏ, ਸੁਘੜ ਗਾਉਂ ਕੇ ਜੀਉ ਪਰਚਾਉਂਦੇ ਨੇ ।

6.     ਲਾਲ ਚਰਖੜਾ ਡਾਹ ਕੇ ਛੋਪ ਪਾਈਏ, ਕੇਹੇ ਸੁਹਣੇ ਗੀਤ ਝਨਾਉਂ ਦੇ ਨੇ ।

7.     ਨੀਵੀਂ ਨਜਰ ਹਿਆ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਰਹੀਏ, ਤੈਨੂੰ ਸਭ ਸਿਆਣੇ ਫ਼ਰਮਾਉਂਦੇ ਨੇ ।

8.     ਚੂਚਕ ਸਿਆਲ ਹੋਰੀਂ ਹੀਰੇ ਜਾਨਣੀ ਹੈਂ, ਸਰਦਾਰ ਇਹ ਪੰਜ ਗਰਾਉਂ ਦੇ ਨੇ ।

9.     ਸ਼ਰਮ ਮਾਪਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਵਲ ਧਿਆਨ ਕਰੀਏ, ਬਾਲਾ ਸ਼ਾਨ ਇਹ ਜਟ ਸਦਾਉਂਦੇ ਨੇ ।

10.ਬਾਹਰ ਫਿਰਨ ਨਾ ਸੁੰਹਦਾ ਜੱਟੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ, ਅੱਜ ਕਲ੍ਹ ਲਾਗੀ ਘਰ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਨੇ ।

11.ਏਥੇ ਵਿਆਹ ਦੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਸਾਮਾਨ ਹੋਏ, ਖੇੜੇ ਪਏ ਬਣਾ ਬਣਾਉਂਦੇ ਨੇ ।

12.ਵਾਰਿਸ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਮੀਆਂ ਚੰਦ ਰੋਜ਼ ਅੰਦਰ, ਖੇੜੇ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਜੰਜ ਲੈ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਨੇ ।

111. ( QAZI AND PARENTS COUNSEL HEER)

 

1.     Now when Heer came back from the forest, her parents sent for the Qazi.

 

2.     The Qazi sat between Chuchak and Milki, and she was made to sit in front of the Qazi.

 

3.     The Qazi said, 'Child, with all gentleness, we give you counsel. Take heed

unto our words with patience.

 

4.     It is not becoming for the daughter of Chuchak to talk to cowherds and penniless coolies. We don't know from where these servants belong to.

 

5.     It would be best if you sat in the assemblies of women in their spinning parties. Turn your red spinning wheel and sing merry songs of the Chenab.

 

6.     Your demeanor should be meek and modest—counsel all wise people.

 

7.     Remember the dignity of your father, Chuchak, who is head of the family of five villages. And his family.

 

8.     For Jats matter in the world, and the girls should think of their parents.

 

9.     They (girls) should not roam about freely. In a few days, the messengers of your wedding will be here.

 

10.The preparations for the marriage are all but complete.

 

11.The Kheras will bring a marriage procession in a few days.

12.To take you to the house of your husband.'

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

112. ਹੀਰ (HEER RESPONDS TO HER FATHER)

1.     ਹੀਰ ਆਖਦੀ ਬਾਬਲਾ ਅਮਲੀਆਂ ਤੋਂ, ਨਹੀਂ ਅਮਲ ਹਟਾਇਆ ਜਾਇ ਮੀਆਂ ।

2.     ਜਿਹੜੀਆਂ ਵਾਦੀਆਂ ਆਦਿ ਦੀਆਂ ਜਾਣ ਨਾਹੀਂ, ਰਾਂਝੇ ਚਾਕ ਤੋਂ ਰਹਿਆ ਨਾ ਜਾਇ ਮੀਆਂ ।

3.     ਸ਼ੀਂਹ ਚਿਤਰੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਨਾ ਮਾਸ ਬਾਝੋਂ, ਝੁਟ ਨਾਲ ਓਹ ਰਿਜ਼ਕ ਕਮਾਇ ਮੀਆਂ ।

4.     ਇਹ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਤਕਦੀਰ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਵਾਰਿਦ, ਕੌਣ ਹੋਵਣੀ ਦੇ ਹਟਾਇ ਮੀਆਂ ।

5.     ਦਾਗ਼ ਅੰਬ ਤੇ ਸਾਰ ਦਾ ਲਹੇ ਨਾਹੀਂ, ਦਾਗ਼ ਇਸ਼ਕ ਦਾ ਭੀ ਨਾ ਜਾਇ ਮੀਆਂ ।

6.     ਮੈਂ ਮੰਗ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਥੀਂ ਲਿਆ ਰਾਂਝਾ, ਚਾਕ ਬਖਸ਼ਿਆ ਆਪ ਖ਼ੁਦਾਇ ਮੀਆਂ ।

7.     ਹੋਰ ਸਭ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਮੰਜ਼ੂਰ ਹੋਈਆਂ, ਰਾਂਝੇ ਚਾਕ ਥੀਂ ਰਹਿਆ ਨਾ ਜਾਇ ਮੀਆਂ ।

8.     ਏਸ ਇਸ਼ਕ ਦੇ ਰੋਗ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਏਵੇਂ, ਸਿਰ ਜਾਏ ਤੇ ਇਹ ਨਾ ਜਾਇ ਮੀਆਂ ।

9.     ਵਾਰਿਸ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਮੀਆਂ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਗੰਜ ਸਿਰ ਦਾ, ਬਾਰਾਂ ਬਰਸ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਨਾਹੀਂ ਜਾਇ ਮੀਆਂ ।

(ਵਾਦੀਆਂ=ਆਦਤਾਂ, ਆਦਿ=ਮੁਢ ਕਦੀਮ ਦੀਆਂ, ਝੁੱਟ=ਪੰਜੇ ਦਾ ਤਿੱਖਾ ਹੱਲਾ,

ਵਾਰਿਦ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ=ਵਾਪਰ ਰਹੀ, ਸਾਰ=ਲੋਹਾ)

1.     And Heer replied to her father, ‘As those addicted to wine cannot desert the bottle, As opium-eaters cannot live without opium, (so I cannot live without Ranjha.)

2.     Some get habituated to habits that cannot be shed. I cannot live without Ranjha.

3.     Tiger and tigress cannot live without flesh and make a great effort to get that food.

4.     The destined Will of the Lord is manifesting, and none can defy it.

5.     As the stain of mango juice cannot be washed away from clothes, so the stain of Love cannot be erased (when once the heart has fallen a victim.)

6.     I sought Ranjha from the Divine Court, and God has blessed me.

7.     I can accept all that you say but cannot survive without Ranjha

8.     Such is the disease of Ishq that even if I lose my life, this sickness shall not wither away.

9.     Writes Waris Shah--Love is like baldness. You cannot get rid of it even in twelve years.

ਇਹਦੇ ਵਢ ਲੁੜ੍ਹਕੇ ਖੋਹ ਚੂੰਡਿਆਂ ਥੋਂ, ਗਲ ਘੁਟ ਕੇ ਡੂੰਘੜੇ ਬੋੜੀਏ ਨੀ ।

ਸਿਰ ਭੰਨ ਸੂ ਨਾਲ ਮਧਾਣੀਆਂ ਦੇ, ਢੂਈਂ ਨਾਲ ਖੜਲੱਤ ਦੇ ਤੋੜੀਏ ਨੀ ।

ਇਹਦਾ ਦਾਤਰੀ ਨਾਲ ਚਾ ਢਿਡ ਪਾੜੋ, ਸੂਆ ਅੱਖੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੋੜੀਏ ਨੀ ।

ਵਾਰਿਸ ਚਾਕ ਤੋਂ ਇਹ ਨਾ ਮੁੜੇ ਮੂਲੇ, ਅਸੀਂ ਰਹੇ ਬਹੁਤੇਰੜਾ ਹੋੜੀਏ ਨੀ ।

1.     Chuchak, in anger, tells Milki--- take away Heer's earrings and adornments of hair, squeeze her throat and drown her deep somewhere. 

2.     Break his head with a milking tool. Throw her out of the by slapping her with wooden boards.

3.     Rip open her belly with a sickle; pierce her eyes with a needle.

1.     ਸਿਰ ਬੇਟੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਚਾਇ ਜੁਦਾ ਕਰਦੇ, ਜਦੋਂ ਗ਼ੁੱਸਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਬਾਪ ਆਂਵਦੇ ਨੇ ।

2.     ਸਿਰ ਵਢ ਕੇ ਨਈਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੋੜ੍ਹ ਦਿੰਦੇ, ਮਾਸ ਕਾਉਂ ਕੁੱਤੇ ਬਿੱਲੇ ਖਾਂਵਦੇ ਨੇ ।

3.     ਸੱਸੀ ਜਾਮ ਜਲਾਲੀ ਨੇ ਰੋੜ੍ਹ ਦਿੱਤੀ, ਕਈ ਡੂਮ ਢਾਡੀ ਪਏ ਗਾਂਵਦੇ ਨੇ ।

4.     ਔਲਾਦ ਜਿਹੜੀ ਕਹੇ ਨਾ ਲੱਗੇ, ਮਾਪੇ ਓਸ ਨੂੰ ਘੁਟ ਲੰਘਾਂਵਦੇ ਨੇ ।

5.     ਜਦੋਂ ਕਹਿਰ ਤੇ ਆਂਵਦੇ ਬਾਪ ਜ਼ਾਲਮ, ਬੰਨ੍ਹ ਬੇਟੀਆਂ ਭੋਹਰੇ ਪਾਂਵਦੇ ਨੇ ।

6.     ਵਾਰਿਸ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਜੇ ਮਾਰੀਏ ਬਦਾਂ ਤਾਈਂ, ਦੇਣੇ ਖ਼ੂਨ ਨਾ ਤਿਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਆਂਵਦੇ ਨੇ ।

ਜਾਮ ਜਲਾਲੀ=ਸਿੰਧ ਦੇ ਪੁਰਾਣੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਭੰਬੋਰ ਦੇ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਜਾਮ ਜਲਾਲੀ

ਦੀ ਪੁਤਰੀ ਸੱਸੀ ਸੀ । ਉਸਦੇ ਜੰਮਣ ਤੇ ਨਜੂਮੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਉਹ

ਵੱਡੀ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਇਸ਼ਕ ਕਰਕੇ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਦਨਾਮੀ ਕਰੇਗੀ । ਇਸ ਤੋਂ

ਬਚਣ ਲਈ ਜਾਮ ਜਲਾਲੀ ਨੇ ਸੱਸੀ ਨੂੰ ਜੰਮਦਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਇੱਕ ਸੰਦੂਕ ਵਿੱਚ

ਪਾਕੇ ਨਦੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੋੜ੍ਹ ਦਿੱਤਾ । ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਬੇਔਲਾਦ ਧੋਬੀ ਅੱਤੇ ਨੇ

ਪਾਲ ਲਿਆ ।ਇਹੋ ਲੜਕੀ ਕੀਚਮ ਮਕਰਾਨ ਦੇ ਰਾਜਕੁਮਾਰ ਪੁੰਨੂੰ ਦੇ

ਇਸ਼ਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹਨੂੰ ਵਾਜਾਂ ਮਾਰਦੀ ਰੇਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਭੁੱਜ ਕੇ ਮਰ ਗਈ)

 

114. MILKI

1.      Daughters are beheaded if fathers get enraged.

 

2.     They drown their heads in rivers and give their flesh to crows, dogs, cats.

 

3.     King Jaam Jalali threw her new-born daughter Sasi out in the river by packing her in a crate for fear of disgrace foretold by the astrologers. She was reared by a washerman, fell in Love with Prince Punnu, and finally died in the desert.

 

4.     Siblings that defy parents, their throats are strangled to kill.

 

5.     When the fathers get infuriated, they become cruel; they throw away daughters in jute bags.

 

6.     If humiliation brings death, they don't mind spilling blood.

2.     ਮਿਲਣ ਖਾਣੀਆਂ ਤਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਫਾੜ ਕਰਕੇ, ਜੀਕੂੰ ਮਾਰੀਆਂ ਜੇ ਤਿਵੇਂ ਖਾ ਮਾਏ ।

3.     ਕਹੇ ਮਾਉਂ ਤੇ ਬਾਪ ਦੇ ਅਸਾਂ ਮੰਨੇ, ਗਲ ਪੱਲੂੜਾ ਤੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਘਾਹ ਮਾਏ ।

4.     ਇੱਕ ਚਾਕ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਨਾ ਕਰੋ ਮੂਲੇ, ਓਹਦਾ ਹੀਰ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਨਿਬਾਹ ਮਾਏਂ ।

115. HEER RESPONDS TO PARENTS.

1.     Those who kill daughters are answerable on the doomsday—Roz-e -Kiamat (day of the divine judgment). They are charged with heinous crimes.

 

2.     They are consigned readily in caves of hell, face retribution in next lives.

 

3.     If I must listen to you, my parents -- strangle me with rope in my neck and grass in the mouth.

2.     ਅਸਾਂ ਫੇਰ ਜੇ ਬਾਹਰ ਇਹ ਕਦੇ ਡਿੱਠੀ, ਸੁੱਟਾਂ ਏਸ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਨ ਥੀਂ ਮਾਰ ਅੰਮਾਂ ।

1.     Heer's brother Sultan arrives. He advises the mother not to scold her daughter (Heer).

2.     Next time if she ventures out, I will kill her and throw her away.

3.     Should she deny wearing hijab (purdah), then I will cut her with a sword.

4.     Ranjha dare not enter our courtyard; otherwise, I will shred him into pieces.

5.     If your daughter (Heer) defies you, I will burn the home and its surroundings.

2.     ਵਹਿਣ ਪਏ ਦਰਿਆ ਨਾ ਕਦੀ ਮੁੜਦੇ, ਵੱਡੇ ਲਾਇ ਰਹੇ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਜ਼ਾਰੀਆਂ ਵੇ ।

3.     ਲਹੂ ਨਿਕਲਣੋ ਰਹੇ ਨਾ ਮੂਲ ਵੀਰਾ, ਜਿੱਥੇ ਲੱਗੀਆਂ ਤੇਜ਼ ਕਟਾਰੀਆਂ ਵੇ ।

4.     ਲੱਗੇ ਦਸਤ ਇੱਕ ਵਾਰ ਨਾ ਬੰਦ ਕੀਜਣ, ਵੈਦ ਲਿਖਦੇ ਵੈਦਗੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਵੇ ।

117. HEER RESPONDS TO HER BROTHER

 

1.     When four eyes of the lover and the beloved clash in Love, emotional outburst cannot be blocked.

 

2.     Flow of rivers cannot be decreed in the reverse direction, despite the strenuous efforts.

 

3.     The blood must ooze out my dear brother—where sharp swords cut and pierce.

 

4.     Sometimes loose motions from the stomach do not stop, despite the corrective prescription of the doctors.

 

5.     The game of Love (Ishq) is lacking without self-sacrifice.  It is not easy to get immersed in the Love of the beloved.

2.     ਤੇਰੀ ਕਿਆੜੀਉਂ ਜੀਭ ਖਿਚਾ ਕੱਢਣ, ਮਾਰੇ ਸ਼ਰਮ ਦੇ ਖ਼ੂਨ ਗੁਜ਼ਾਰਨੀਗੇ ।

3.     ਜਿਸ ਵਕਤ ਅਸਾਂ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਚਾ ਫ਼ਤਵਾ, ਓਸ ਵਕਤ ਹੀ ਪਾਰ ਉਤਾਰਨੀਗੇ ।

4.     ਮਾਂ ਆਖਦੀ ਲੋੜ੍ਹ ਖੁਦਾਇ ਦਾ ਜੇ, ਤਿੱਖੇ ਸ਼ੋਖ ਦੀਦੇ ਵੇਖ ਪਾੜਨੀਗੇ ।

5.     ਵਾਰਿਸ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਕਰ ਤਰਕ ਬੁਰਿਆਈਆਂ ਤੋਂ, ਨਹੀਂ ਅੱਗ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਿਘਾਰਨੀਗੇ ।

1.     Qazi to Heer –for fear of God, listen to your parents—otherwise, they will bash you because of your stubbornness.

 

2.     With your tongue pulled out and you will be killed disgrace.

 

3.     The moment I issue my fatwa or decree, they will make you sleep to death.

 

4.     Your mother pleads -- for fear of God, your brashness will be counterproductive.

119. ਰਾਂਝੇ ਦਾ ਪੰਜਾਂ ਪੀਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਨਾ (RANJHA REMEMBERS THE PIRS)

1.     ਪੰਜਾਂ ਪੀਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਰਾਂਝਣੇ ਯਾਦ ਕੀਤਾ, ਜਦੋਂ ਹੀਰ ਸੁਨੇਹੜਾ ਘੱਲਿਆ ਈ ।

2.     ਮਾਂ ਬਾਪ ਕਾਜ਼ੀ ਸਭ ਗਿਰਦ ਹੋਏ, ਗਿਲਾ ਸਭਨਾ ਦਾ ਅਸਾਂ ਝੱਲਿਆ ਈ ।

3.     ਆਏ ਪੀਰ ਪੰਜੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਹਥ ਜੋੜੇ, ਨੀਰ ਰੋਂਦਿਆਂ ਮੂਲ ਨਾਲ ਠੱਲ੍ਹਿਆ ਈ ।

4.     ਬੱਚਾ ਕੌਣ ਮੁਸੀਬਤਾਂ ਪੇਸ਼ ਆਈਆਂ, ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਜਿਉ ਸਾਡਾ ਥਰਥੱਲਿਆ ਈ ।

5.     ਮੇਰੀ ਹੀਰ ਨੂੰ ਵੀਰ ਹੈਰਾਨ ਕੀਤਾ, ਕਾਜ਼ੀ ਮਾਉਂ ਤੇ ਬਾਪ ਪਥੱਲਿਆ ਈ ।

6.     ਮਦਦ ਕਰੋ ਖੁਦਾਇ ਦੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਜੀ, ਮੇਰਾ ਇਸ਼ਕ ਖ਼ਰਾਬ ਹੋ ਚੱਲਿਆ ਈ ।

7.     ਬਹੁਤ ਪਿਆਰ ਦਿਲਾਸੜੇ ਨਾਲ ਪੀਰਾਂ, ਮੀਏਂ ਰਾਂਝੇ ਦਾ ਜੀਉ ਤਸੱਲਿਆ ਈ ।

8.     ਤੇਰੀ ਹੀਰ ਦੀ ਮੱਦਤੇ ਮੀਆਂ ਰਾਂਝਾ, ਮਖ਼ਦੂਮ ਜਹਾਨੀਆਂ ਘੱਲਿਆ ਈ ।

9.     ਦੋ ਸੱਦ ਸੁਣਾ ਖਾਂ ਵੰਝਲੀ ਦੇ, ਸਾਡਾ ਗਾਵਣੇ ਤੇ ਜੀਉ ਚੱਲਿਆ ਈ ।

10.ਵਾਰਿਸ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਅੱਗੇ ਜਟ ਗਾਂਵਦਾ ਈ, ਵੇਖੋ ਰਾਗ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਜੀਉ ਹੱਲਿਆ ਈ ।

119. (RANJHA REMEMBERS THE PIRS)

1.     Ranjha remembers the Five Pirs when he was apprised of the story of distress of Heer.

2.     Parents and Qazi surrounded Heer, and all complained about our relationship.

3.     Five Pirs appeared. With folded hands and tears flowing from his eyes, Ranjha prayed.

4.     They said, "what pains you, our child.  Your anguish has troubled our hearts.

5.     Ranjha—the Qazi, and Heer parents have agonized my beloved Heer.

 

6.     For God's sake, help me, or my Love will be ruined.

 

7.     With loving and caring assurances, Pirs calmed Ranjha.

 

8.     For serving you and Heer, we have been sent to this world.

 

9.     You play your flute, and we would like to enjoy its music.

 

10.Then Jatt Ranjha played the flute so beautifully that it stirred all hearts.

 

120. ਪੀਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਰਾਂਝੇ ਦਾ ਰਾਗ ਗਾ ਕੇ ਸੁਣਾਉਣਾ

ਸ਼ੌਕ ਨਾਲ ਵਜਾਇ ਕੇ ਵੰਝਲੀ ਨੂੰ, ਪੰਜਾਂ ਪੀਰਾਂ ਅੱਗੇ ਖੜ੍ਹਾ ਗਾਂਵਦਾ ਏ ।

ਕਦੀ ਊਧੋ ਤੇ ਕਾਨ੍ਹ ਦੇ ਬਿਸ਼ਨਪਦੇ, ਕਦੇ ਮਾਝ ਪਹਾੜੀ ਦੀ ਲਾਂਵਦਾ ਏ ।

ਕਦੀ ਢੋਲ ਤੇ ਮਾਰਵਣ ਛੋਹ ਦਿੰਦਾ, ਕਦੀ ਬੂਬਨਾ ਚਾਇ ਸੁਣਾਂਵਦਾ ਏ ।

ਮਲਕੀ ਨਾਲ ਜਲਾਲੀ ਨੂੰ ਖ਼ੂਬ ਗਾਵੇ, ਵਿੱਚ ਝਿਊਰੀ ਦੀ ਕਲੀ ਲਾਂਵਦਾ ਏ ।

ਕਦੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਤੇ ਮਹੀਂਵਾਲ ਵਾਲੇ, ਨਾਲ ਸ਼ੌਕ ਦੇ ਸੱਦ ਸੁਣਾਂਵਦਾ ਏ ।

ਕਦੀ ਧੁਰਪਦਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਕਬਿਤ ਛੋਹੇ, ਕਦੀ ਸੋਹਲੇ ਨਾਲ ਰਲਾਂਵਦਾ ਏ ।

ਸਾਰੰਗ ਨਾਲ ਤਲੰਗ ਸ਼ਹਾਨੀਆਂ ਦੇ, ਰਾਗ ਸੂਹੀ ਦਾ ਭੋਗ ਚਾ ਪਾਂਵਦਾ ਏ ।

ਸੋਰਠ ਗੁਜਰੀਆਂ ਪੂਰਬੀ ਲਲਿਤ ਭੈਰੋਂ, ਦੀਪਕ ਰਾਗ ਦੀ ਜ਼ੀਲ ਵਜਾਂਵਦਾ ਏ ।

ਟੋਡੀ ਮੇਘ ਮਲ੍ਹਾਰ ਗੌਂਡ ਧਨਾਸਰੀ, ਜੈਤਸਰੀ ਭੀ ਨਾਲ ਰਲਾਂਵਦਾ ਏ ।

ਮਾਲਸਰੀ ਤੇ ਪਰਜ ਬਿਹਾਗ ਬੋਲੇ, ਨਾਲ ਮਾਰਵਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਜਾਵੰਦਾ ਏ ।

ਕੇਦਾਰਾ ਬਿਹਾਗੜਾ ਤੇ ਰਾਗ ਮਾਰੂ, ਨਾਲੇ ਕਾਨ੍ਹੜੇ ਦੇ ਸੁਰ ਲਾਂਵਦਾ ਏ ।

ਕਲਿਆਨ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਾਲਕੌਂਸ ਬੋਲੇ, ਅਤੇ ਮੰਗਲਾਚਾਰ ਸੁਣਾਂਵਦਾ ਏ ।

ਭੈਰੋਂ ਨਾਲ ਪਲਾਸੀਆਂ ਭੀਮ ਬੋਲੇ, ਨਟ ਰਾਗ ਦੀ ਜ਼ੀਲ ਵਜਾਂਵਦਾ ਏ ।

ਬਰਵਾ ਨਾਲ ਪਹਾੜ ਝੰਝੋਟੀਆਂ ਦੇ, ਹੋਰੀ ਨਾਲ ਆਸਾਖੜਾ ਗਾਂਵਦਾ ਏ ।

ਬੋਲੇ ਰਾਗ ਬਸੰਤ ਹਿੰਡੋਲ ਗੋਪੀ, ਮੁੰਦਾਵਣੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਸੁਰਾਂ ਲਾਂਵਦਾ ਏ ।

ਪਲਾਸੀ ਨਾਲ ਤਰਾਨਿਆਂ ਰਾਮਕਲੀ, ਵਾਰਿਸ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਖੜਾ ਸੁਣਾਂਵਦਾ ਏ ।

ਮੇਘ=ਬਰਸਾਤ ਦੇ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਰਾਗ ਜੋ ਰਾਤ ਦੇ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਪਹਿਰ ਗਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,

ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਰਾਗ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਨਿਕਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਮਲ੍ਹਾਰ=ਸਾਵਣ

ਤਲਹਿ ਪਿੰਡ ਦੇ ਲੁਹਾਰ ਦੀ ਬੇਟੀ, ਜਿਹੜੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਅਤੇ ਅਕਲ ਵਾਲੀ ਸੀ ।

ਬਲਖ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਨੌਜਵਾਨ ਅਲੀ ਗੌਹਰ ਉਹਦੀ ਸੁੰਦਰਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਪਨੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੇਖ ਕੇ

ਉਹਦੀ ਭਾਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਫ਼ਕੀਰ ਬਣ ਕੇ ਨਿਕਲ ਪਿਆ ।ਇਹਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਵਾਲ

ਮੁਨਾ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਹਨੂੰ ਰੋਡਾ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ।ਜਦੋਂ ਇਹ ਜਲਾਲੀ ਦੇ ਪਿੰਡ

ਪਹੁੰਚਾ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਖੂਹ ਤੇ ਪਾਣੀ ਭਰਦੀ ਸੀ ।ਫੇਰ ਮੁਲਾਕਾਤਾਂ ਵਧ ਗਈਆਂ ।ਜਲਾਲੀ

ਉਤੇ ਘਰ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਪਾਬੰਦੀ ਲਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ ।ਉਹ ਆਪ ਉਹਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਚਲਾ ਗਿਆ ।

ਸਜ਼ਾ ਦੇ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਰੋਡੇ ਨੂੰ ਨਦੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੁੱਟ ਦਿੱਤਾ ।ਓਥੋਂ ਉਹ ਬਚ ਕੇ ਨਿਕਲ ਆਇਆ ।

ਜਦੋਂ ਜਲਾਲੀ ਦਾ ਵਿਆਹ ਹੋਣ ਲੱਗਾ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਉਹਨੂੰ ਭਜਾ ਕੇ ਲੈ ਗਿਆ ।ਪੱਤਣ ਤੇ

ਦਰਿਆ ਪਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਲੱਗਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਫੜਿਆ ਗਿਆ।ਲੁਹਾਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਹਦੇ ਟੋਟੇ ਕਰਕੇ ਨਦੀ

ਵਿੱਚ ਰੋੜ੍ਹ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਜਲਾਲੀ ਇਸੇ ਸਦਮੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਰ ਗਈ)

1.     ਰਾਜ਼ੀ ਹੋ ਪੰਜਾਂ ਪੀਰਾਂ ਹੁਕਮ ਕੀਤਾ, ਬੱਚਾ ਮੰਗ ਲੈ ਦੁਆ ਜੋ ਮੰਗਣੀ ਹੈ ।

2.     ਅਜੀ ਹੀਰ ਜੱਟੀ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਬਖਸ਼ ਦੇਵੋ, ਰੰਗਣ ਸ਼ੌਕ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਜੋ ਰੰਗਣੀ ਹੈ ।

4.     ਜੇਹੇ ਨਾਲ ਰਲੀ ਤੇਹੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਏ, ਨੰਗਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਲੜੇ ਸੋ ਭੀ ਨੰਗਣੀ ਹੈ ।

5.     ਵਾਰਿਸ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਨਾ ਲੜੀਂ ਨਾ ਛੱਡ ਜਾਈਂ, ਘਰ ਮਾਪਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਹੀਂ ਟੰਗਣੀ ਹੈ ।

1.     Pirs said to Ranjha-- Ask any favor of us, and we will give it.

2.     Ranjha—Bless me with the gift of Heer and color me in her Love.

3.     We will admit you to our holy order; make you a Malang and give you

Hir as Malangani and Mate. She may become one with you

4.     But don't desert her; keep her with you.

1.     ਰਾਂਝੇ ਆਖਿਆ ਆ ਖਾਂ ਬੈਠ ਹੀਰੇ, ਕੋਈ ਖ਼ੂਬ ਤਦਬੀਰ ਬਣਾਈਏ ਜੀ ।

2.     ਤੇਰੇ ਮਾਉਂ ਤੇ ਬਾਪ ਦਿਲਗੀਰ ਹੁੰਦੇ, ਕਿਵੇਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਤ ਛੁਪਾਈਏ ਜੀ ।

3.     ਮਿੱਠੀ ਨੈਣ ਨੂੰ ਸਦ ਕੇ ਬਾਤ ਗਿਣੀਏ, ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਕਹੇਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਘਰ ਆਈਏ ਜੀ ।

4.     ਮੈਂ ਸਿਆਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਹੜੇ ਵੜਾਂ ਨਾਹੀਂ, ਸਾਥੇ ਹੀਰ ਨੂੰ ਨਿੱਤ ਪਹੁੰਚਾਈਏ ਜੀ ।

5.     ਦਿਨੇ ਰਾਤ ਤੇਰੇ ਘਰ ਮੇਲ ਸਾਡਾ, ਸਾਡੇ ਸਿਰੀਂ ਅਹਿਸਾਨ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਈਏ ਜੀ ।

6.     ਹੀਰ ਪੰਜ ਮੁਹਰਾਂ ਹੱਥ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ ਨੇ, ਜੀਵੇਂ ਮਿਠੀਏ ਡੌਲ ਬਣਾਈਏ ਜੀ ।

7.     ਕੁੜੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਨਾ ਖੋਲ੍ਹਣਾ ਭੇਦ ਮੂਲੇ, ਸਭਾ ਜੀਉ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੁਕਾਈਏ ਜੀ ।

8.     ਵਾਰਿਸ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਛੁਪਾਈਏ ਖ਼ਲਕ ਕੋਲੋਂ, ਭਾਵੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਹੀ ਗੁੜ ਖਾਈਏ ਜੀ ।

1.     Ranjha asks Heer to sit beside him to plan the next course of action.

2.     Your parents may be angry with our meetings.  Can we escape their attention?

3.     They ask Barber Woman Mithi, if she agrees-- they may meet in her home.

4.     Ranjha says to Mithi—I will never enter the courtyard of Sials. You everyday court Heer to your home.

5.     We will meet daily in your house for which we shall be grateful.

6.     Heer handed Mithi some money(five coins) and requested to implement this plan.

7.     Don't reveal this secret to other girlfriends of Heer. Keep all this to yourself.

124. ਨਾਈਆਂ ਦੇ ਘਰ (HOME OF BARBERS)

1.     ਫਲ੍ਹੇ ਕੋਲ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਮੰਗੂ ਬੈਠਦਾ ਸੀ, ਓਥੇ ਕੋਲ ਹੈਸੀ ਘਰ ਨਾਈਆਂ ਦਾ ।

2.     ਮਿੱਠੀ ਨਾਇਣ ਘਰਾਂ ਸੰਦੀ ਖਸਮਣੀ ਸੀ, ਨਾਈ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦੇ ਫਿਰਨ ਸਾਈਆਂ ਦਾ ।

3.     ਘਰ ਨਾਈਆਂ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਰਾਂਝਣੇ ਦਾ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਸਾਹੁਰੇ ਘਰੀਂ ਜਵਾਈਆਂ ਦਾ ।

4.     ਚਾਂ ਭਾਂ ਮੱਠੀ ਫਿਰਨ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਦੀ, ਬਾਰਾ ਖੁਲ੍ਹਦਾ ਲੇਫ਼ ਤਲਾਈਆਂ ਦਾ ।

5.     ਮਿੱਠੀ ਸੇਜ ਵਿਛਾਏ ਕੇ ਫੁੱਲ ਪੂਰੇ, ਉੱਤੇ ਆਂਵਦਾ ਕਦਮ ਖ਼ੁਦਾਈਆਂ ਦਾ ।

6.     ਦੋਵੇਂ ਹੀਰ ਰਾਂਝਾ ਰਾਤੀਂ ਕਰਨ ਮੌਜਾਂ, ਖੜੀਆਂ ਖਾਣ ਮੱਝੀਂ ਸਿਰ ਸਾਈਆਂ ਦਾ ।

7.     ਘੜੀ ਰਾਤ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਘਰੀਂ ਹੀਰ ਜਾਏ, ਰਾਂਝਾ ਭਾਤ ਪੁਛਦਾ ਫਿਰ ਧਾਈਆਂ ਦਾ ।

8.     ਆਪੋ ਆਪਣੀ ਕਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾਇ ਰੁੱਝਣ, ਬੂਹਾ ਫੇਰ ਨਾ ਵੇਖਦੇ ਨਾਈਆਂ ਦਾ ।

124. HOME OF BARBER

1.     Barber woman's (Mithi)house was near the watering-place of the

Cattle, a little aside in a quiet corner.

2.     Mithi virtually owned the house while Barbers operated from the place of their work.

3.     Ranjha's orders were obeyed throughout the house, and he was treated with as much honor as a son-in-law

4.     It was full of quilts and beds and soft coverlets, and Mithi used to scatter flowers for Ranjha and Hir to walk on.

5.     And Hir used to come during the night and stay, while the cattle strayed outside.

6.     In the morning twilight, she would then slip back to her own house.

7.     Then, Ranjha drove the buffaloes out to graze in the forest, leaving the barber's house.

1.    ਦਿੰਹੁ ਹੋਵੇ ਦੁਪਹਿਰ ਤਾਂ ਆਵੇ ਰਾਂਝਾ, ਅਤੇ ਓਧਰੋਂ ਹੀਰ ਵੀ ਆਂਵਦੀ ਹੈ ।

5.    ਕਾਈ ਚੰਬੜੇ ਲਕ ਨੂੰ ਮਸ਼ਕਬੋਰੀ, ਕਾਈ ਮੁਖ ਨੂੰ ਮੁਖ ਛੁਹਾਂਵਦੀ ਹੈ ।

6.    ਕਾਈ 'ਮੀਰੀ ਆਂ' ਆਖ ਕੇ ਭੱਜ ਜਾਂਦੀ, ਮਗਰ ਪਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਟੁੱਭੀਆਂ ਲਾਂਵਦੀ ਹੈ ।

7.    ਕਾਈ ਆਖਦੀ ਮਾਹੀਆ ਮਾਹੀਆ ਵੇ, ਤੇਰੀ ਮਝ ਕਟੀ ਕੱਟਾ ਜਾਂਵਦੀ ਹੈ ।

 

125. (HEER AND FRIENDS PLAY WTH RANJHA)

1.     Every afternoon, Ranjha arrives, and from the other side, Heer comes. 

2.     He drives the buffaloes out to graze in the forest, and she would come with her friends.

3.     He would play the flute, and she would merrily sing with other friends.

4.     Some girls play with the curly hair of Ranjha or sometimes hugs him.

5.     Another girl would tie him to her waist and even kiss him.

6.     Sometimes they would play hide and seek with him.

7.     Sometimes they joke with Ranjha that his cattle have run away

1.     ਕੈਦੋ ਆਖਦਾ ਮਲਕੀਏ ਭੈੜੀਏ ਨੀ, ਤੇਰੀ ਧੀਉ ਵੱਡਾ ਚੱਚਰ ਚਾਇਆ ਈ ।

2.     ਜਾਇ ਨਈਂ ਤੇ ਚਾਕ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਘੁਲਦੀ, ਏਸ ਮੁਲਕ ਦਾ ਰੱਛ ਗਵਾਇਆ ਈ ।

3.     ਮਾਂ ਬਾਪ ਕਾਜ਼ੀ ਸਭੇ ਹਾਰ ਥੱਕੇ ਏਸ ਇੱਕ ਨਾ ਜਿਉ ਤੇ ਲਾਇਆ ਈ ।

4.     ਮੂੰਹ ਘੁਟ ਰਹੇ ਵਾਲ ਪੁਟ ਰਹੇ, ਲਿੰਗ ਕੁਟ ਰਹੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤਾਇਆ ਈ ।

5.     ਹਿੱਕ ਹੁੱਟ ਰਹੇ ਝਾਟਾ ਪੁਟ ਰਹੇ, ਅੰਤ ਹੁੱਟ ਰਹੇ ਗ਼ੈਬ ਚਾਇਆ ਈ ।

6.     ਲਿਟਾਂ ਪੁਟ ਰਹੇ ਤੇ ਨਿਖੁੱਟ ਰਹੇ, ਲੱਤੀਂ ਜੁਟ ਰਹੇ ਤੇ ਲਟਕਾਇਆ ਈ ।

7.     ਮੱਤੀਂ ਦੇ ਰਹੇ ਪੀਰ ਸੇਂਵ ਰਹੇ, ਪੈਰੀਂ ਪੈ ਰਹੇ ਲੋੜ੍ਹਾ ਆਇਆ ਈ ।

3.     Replies Milki--We have tried all we can. 

4.     Parents and the Qazi and I, but we can do nothing with her.

5.     Tied her mouth, pulled hair, beaten her---and she has troubled my heart.

6.     I don't know what has come over her. Despite all this, she is not amenable to our sane counsel.

7.     Some Pir may make her understand and control her.

8.     Writes Waris Shah—Kaido (man handicapped from a leg) again raises controversy on the latent issue.

2.    ਅਲਫੂ ਮੋਚੀਆ ਮੌਜਮਾ ਵਾਗੀਆ ਵੇ, ਧੱਦੀ ਮਾਛੀਆ ਭਜ ਤੂੰ ਭਾਈਆ ਵੇ ।

3.    ਖੇਡਣ ਗਈ ਮੂੰਹ ਸੋਝਲੇ ਘਰੋਂ ਨਿਕਲੀ, ਨਿੰਮ੍ਹੀ ਸ਼ਾਮ ਹੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਈਆ ਵੇ ।

1.    ਝੰਗੜ ਡੂਮ ਤੇ ਫੱਤੂ ਕਲਾਲ ਦੌੜੇ, ਬੇਲਾ ਚੂਹੜਾ ਤੇ ਝੰਡੀ ਚਾਕ ਮੀਆਂ ।

2.    ਜਾ ਹੀਰ ਅੱਗੇ ਧੁੰਮ ਘੱਤੀਆ ਨੇ, ਬੱਚਾ ਕੇਹੀ ਉਡਾਈ ਆ ਖ਼ਾਕ ਮੀਆਂ ।

3.    ਤੇਰੀ ਮਾਂਉਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਗ਼ੁੱਸੇ, ਜਾਨੋਂ ਮਾਰਸੀ ਚੂਚਕ ਬਾਪ ਮੀਆਂ ।

4.    ਰਾਂਝਾ ਜਾਹ ਤੇਰੇ ਸਿਰ ਆਣ ਬਣੀਆਂ, ਨਾਲੇ ਆਖਦੇ ਮਾਰੀਏ ਚਾਕ ਮੀਆਂ ।

5.    ਸਿਆਲ ਘੇਰ ਘੇਰਨ ਪਵਣ ਮਗਰ ਤੇਰੇ, ਗਿਣੇਂ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਚਲਾਕ ਮੀਆਂ ।

6.    ਤੋਤਾ ਅੰਬ ਦੀ ਡਾਲ ਤੇ ਕਰੇ ਮੌਜਾਂ, ਤੇ ਗੁਲੇਲੜਾ ਪੌਸ ਪਟਾਕ ਮੀਆਂ ।

7.    ਅੱਜ ਸਿਆਲਾਂ ਨੇ ਚੁੱਲ੍ਹੀਂ ਨਾ ਅੱਗ ਘੱਤੀ, ਸਾਰਾ ਕੋੜਮਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਗ਼ਮਨਾਕ ਮੀਆਂ ।

8.    ਵਾਰਿਸ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਯਤੀਮ ਦੇ ਮਾਰਨੇ ਨੂੰ, ਸਭਾ ਜੁੜੀ ਝਨਾਉਂ ਦੀ ਢਾਕ ਮੀਆਂ ।

1.     Many servants named here—run to give message to Heer.

2.     They make a noisy scene before Heer, oh child, what sort of offense you have committed.

3.     Your mother is enraged, and your father is ready to thrash you.

4.     Ranjha, you are in trouble, and they also plan to bash you.

5.     The Sials clan's purpose of surrounding you is to teach you a lesson. Do not think you are smarter.

6.     When the parrot enjoys the mango, it forgets that a slingshot can hit it.

7.     The Sials have not fired their kitchen today(not eaten anything)—the family is stressed in distress.

5.    ਤੂੰ ਅਕਾਇਕੇ ਸਾੜ ਕੇ ਲੋੜ੍ਹ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਲਿੰਗ ਘੜੂੰਗੀ ਨਾਲ ਮੁਤਹਿਰੀਏ ਨੀ ।

6.    ਆ ਆਖਨੀ ਹਾਂ ਟਲ ਜਾ ਹੀਰੇ, ਮਹਿਰ ਰਾਂਝੇ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਦੀਏ ਮਹਿਰੀਏ ਨੀ ।

4.    You, women of ill-repute from Uzbeki ancestry, are full of poison.

5.    You have scorched us alive. We will kill you with a rod.

6.    Warn you to beware of your relations with Ranjha.

7.    Stay with us day and night, and don't move out of the courtyard.

8.    Will drown you tonight as the time of your elimination has arrived.

2.     ਗੰਦਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਮਲੂਕ ਮੂੰਹ ਝੂਠੜੇ ਦਾ, ਐਡਾ ਝੂਠ ਪਹਾੜ ਕਿਉਂ ਤੋਲਨੀ ਹੈਂ ।

3.     ਸ਼ੁਲਾ ਨਾਲ ਗੁਲਾਬ ਤਿਆਰ ਕੀਤਾ, ਵਿੱਚ ਪਿਆਜ਼ ਕਿਊਂ ਝੂਠ ਦਾ ਘੋਲਨੀ ਹੈਂ ।

3.     ਅਸੀਂ ਮਨ੍ਹਾ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਾਂ ਮੁੜੀ ਨਾਹੀਂ, ਤੈਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਫ਼ਕੀਰ ਦੀ ਕੇਹੀ ਵੱਗੀ ।

2.    ਤੈਨੂੰ ਮਿਹਣਾ ਚਾਕ ਦਾ ਦੇ ਕੈਦੋਂ, ਵਿੱਚ ਪਰ੍ਹੇ ਦੇ ਸ਼ੋਰ ਮਚਾਇਆ ਈ ।

1.     ਸਈਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਰਲ ਕੇ ਹੀਰ ਮਤਾ ਕੀਤਾ, ਖਿੰਡ-ਪੁੰਡ ਕੇ ਗਲੀਆਂ ਮੱਲੀਆਂ ਨੇ ।

2.     ਕੈਦੋਂ ਆਣ ਵੜਿਆ ਜਦੋਂ ਫਲ੍ਹੇ ਅੰਦਰ, ਖ਼ਬਰਾਂ ਤੁਰਤ ਹੀ ਹੀਰ ਥੇ ਘੱਲੀਆਂ ਨੇ ।

3.     ਹੱਥੀਂ ਪਕੜ ਕਾਂਬਾਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਪਰੀਆਂ, ਗ਼ੁੱਸਾ ਖਾਇਕੇ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਚੱਲੀਆਂ ਨੇ ।

4.     ਕੈਦੋਂ ਘੇਰ ਜਿਉਂ ਗਧਾ ਘਮਿਆਰ ਪਕੜੇ, ਲਾਹ ਸੇਲ੍ਹੀਆਂ ਪਕੜ ਪਥੱਲੀਆਂ ਨੇ ।

5.     ਘਾੜ ਘੜਨ ਠਠਿਆਰ ਜਿਉਂ ਪੌਣ ਧਮਕਾਂ, ਧਾਈਂ ਛੱਟਦੀਆਂ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਮੁਹੱਲੀਆਂ ਨੇ ।

1.     Heer meets all friends to discuss in detail how to thrash Kaido.

3.     Then all will proceed fast like royal fairies with anger towards him.

4.     When Kaido catches his ass, surround him, and then chain him to throw him on the ground.

2.     ਭੰਨ ਕੌਰ ਤੇ ਕੁਤਕੇ ਛੜਨ ਲੱਤੀਂ, ਰੋੜ੍ਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਖੁੜੱਲ ਦੇ ਸੁੱਟਿਉ ਨੇ ।

3.     ਝੰਝੋੜ ਸਿਰ ਤੋੜ ਕੇ ਘਤ ਮੂਧਾ, ਲਾਂਗੜ ਪਾੜ ਕੇ ਧੜਾ ਧੜ ਕੁੱਟਿਉ ਨੇ ।

3.     They twist his head, throw him down and whip the lame man repeatedly.

3.     As if a rich man's wealth is stolen from the fort, he runs to Lahore for recovery through the police.

2.     ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਹੀਰ ਨੇ ਚੂਰ ਕੀਤਾ, ਪੈਂਚੋ ਪਿੰਡ ਦਿਉ, ਦਿਉ ਖਾਂ ਦਾਦ ਮੀਆਂ ।

3.     ਕਫ਼ਨ ਪਾੜ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਥੇ ਜਾ ਕੂਕਾਂ, ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਪੁਟ ਸੁਟਾਂ ਬਨਿਆਦ ਮੀਆਂ ।

4.     ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਬੋਲਣੋਂ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਸੱਚ ਪਿੱਛੇ, ਸ਼ੀਰੀਂ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਫ਼ਰਹਾਦ ਮੀਆਂ ।

2.     ਦੌਰ ਭੰਨ ਕੇ ਕੁਤਕੇ ਸਾੜ ਮੇਰੇ, ਪੈਵੰਦ ਜੁੱਲੀਆਂ ਫੋਲ ਕੇ ਪਾੜੀਆ ਨੇ ।

3.     ਕੁੱਕੜ ਕੁੱਤੀਆਂ ਭੰਗ ਅਫੀਮ ਲੁੱਟੀ, ਮੇਰੀ ਬਾਵਨੀ ਚਾ ਉਜਾੜੀਆ ਨੇ ।

152. ਪੈਂਚੋ ਨੇ ਕੈਦੋਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਸੱਲੀ ਦੇਣੀ

1.     ਪੈਚਾਂ ਕੈਦੋ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ ਸਬਰ ਕਰ ਤੂੰ, ਤੈਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਨੇ ਝੱਖ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਨੇ ।

2.     ਹਾਏ ਹਾਏ ਫ਼ਕੀਰ ਤੇ ਕਹਿਰ ਹੋਇਆ, ਕੋਈ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੀ ਖ਼ੂਨ ਗੁਜਾਰਿਆ ਨੇ ।

3.     ਬਹੁਤ ਦੇ ਦਿਲਾਸੜਾ ਪੂੰਝ ਅੱਖੀਂ, ਕੈਦੋ ਲੰਙੇ ਨੂੰ ਠੱਗ ਕੇ ਠਾਰਿਆ ਨੇ ।

4.     ਕੈਦੋ ਆਖਿਆ ਧੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਵਲ ਹੋ ਕੇ, ਵੇਖੋ ਦੀਨ ਈਮਾਨ ਨਿਘਾਰਿਆ ਨੇ ।

5.     ਵਾਰਿਸ ਅੰਧ ਰਾਜਾ ਤੇ ਬੇਦਾਦ ਨਗਰੀ, ਝੂਠਾ ਵੇਖ ਜੋ ਭਾਂਬੜਾ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਨੇ ।

ELDERS CONSOLE KAIDO

1.     Elders advised Kaido to have patience. We have noted that you have been battered brutally.

2.     The Fakir is harshly dealt with. An attempt is made to kill him.

3.     They consoled him, wiped his tears. This crafty lame Kaido is taught a lesson.

4.     Kaido said – the daughters  (of Chuchak ) have lost all their decency and shame.

153. ਚੂਚਕ ਤੇ ਕੈਦੋਂ (CHUCHAK TO KAIDO)

1.     ਚੂਚਕ ਆਖਿਆ ਅੱਖੀਂ ਵਿਖਾਲ ਮੈਨੂੰ, ਮੁੰਡੀ ਲਾਹ ਸੁੱਟਾਂ ਮੁੰਡੇ ਮੁੰਡੀਆਂ ਦੀ ।

2.     ਇੱਕੇ ਦਿਆਂ ਤਰਾਹ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਰਤ ਮਾਹੀ, ਸਾਡੇ ਦੇਸ ਨਾ ਥਾਂਉ ਹੈ ਗੁੰਡਿਆਂ ਦੀ ।

3.     ਸਰਵਾਹੀਆਂ ਛਿੱਕ ਕੇ ਅਲਖ ਲਾਹਾਂ, ਅਸੀਂ ਸਥ ਨਾ ਪਰ੍ਹੇ ਹਾਂ ਟੁੰਡਿਆਂ ਦੀ ।

4.     ਕੈਦੋ ਆਖਿਆ ਵੇਖ ਫੜਾਵਨਾ ਹਾਂ, ਭਲਾ ਮਾਉਂ ਕਿਹੜੀ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਲੁੰਡਿਆਂ ਦੀ ।

6.     ਏਸ ਹੀਰ ਦੀ ਪੜਛ ਦੀ ਭੰਗ ਲੈਸਾਂ, ਸੇਲ੍ਹੀ ਵਟਸਾਂ ਚਾਕ ਦੇ ਜੁੰਡਿਆਂ ਦੀ ।

1.     Chuchak said –if you show me what you say, I will cut the throat of the girl and the boy.

2.     Immediately I will turn the shepherd (Ranjah) out of the country. Our village is not a place for ruffians. 

3.     With swords, I will behead them, and we do not support such evil actions.

4.     Kaido said –I will catch them red-handed for you (Chuchak) to see how these hooligans behave.

5.     If you still dither after seeing their shame, then I will believe that you have no control over them.

6.     I will grind Hir's flesh into small pieces like bhang and make a rope of her hair of the shepherd.

7.     Writes Waris Shah—now the game between the elders and young has commenced.

 

 

 

 

154. ਕੈਦੋਂ ਨੇ ਬੇਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੁਕ ਕੇ ਬਹਿਣਾ ( KAIDO HIDES IN THE FIELDS)

1.     ਵੱਡੀ ਹੋਈ ਉਸ਼ੇਰ ਤਾਂ ਜਾ ਛਹਿਆ, ਪੋਹ ਮਾਘ ਕੁੱਤਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੁੰਨੂਆਂ ਦੇ ।

2.     ਹੋਇਆ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਵੇਲਾ ਤਦੋਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੇਲੇ, ਫੇਰੇ ਆਣ ਪਏ ਸੱਸੀ ਪੁੰਨੂਆਂ ਦੇ ।

3.     ਪੋਣਾ ਬੰਨ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਰਾਂਝੇ ਨੇ ਹੱਥ ਮਲਿਆ, ਢੇਰ ਆ ਲੱਗੇ ਰੱਤੇ ਚੁੰਨੂਆਂ ਦੇ ।

4.     ਬੇਲਾ ਲਾਲੋ ਹੀ ਲਾਲ ਪੁਕਾਰਦਾ ਸੀ, ਕੈਦੋ ਪੈ ਰਹਿਆ ਵਾਂਗ ਹੋ ਘੁਨੂੰਆਂ ਦੇ ।

1.     In the morning Kaido proceeds to the fields and hid himself like a clever dog.

2.     In the afternoon, Heer, her friends, and Ranjha arrive.

3.     Ranjha cleaned his hands with the apron and played with them.

155. ਸਈਆਂ ਦੇ ਜਾਣ ਪਿੱਛੋਂ ਹੀਰ ਤੇ ਰਾਂਝੇ ਦਾ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਪੈ ਜਾਣਾ ( HEER AND RANJHA STAY TOGTHER AFTER THE GIRLS LEAVE.

1.     ਜਦੋਂ ਲਾਲ ਖਜੂਰਿਉਂ ਖੇਡ ਸੱਈਆਂ, ਸਭੇ ਘਰੋ ਘਰੀ ਉਠ ਚੱਲੀਆਂ ਨੀ ।

2.     ਰਾਂਝਾ ਹੀਰ ਨਿਆਰੜੇ ਹੋ ਸੁੱਤੇ, ਕੰਧਾਂ ਨਦੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਮਹੀਂ ਨੇ ਮੱਲੀਆਂ ਨੀ ।

3.     ਪਏ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਇਕੱਠਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ, ਟੰਗਾਂ ਲੰਙੇ ਦੀਆਂ ਤੇਜ਼ ਹੋ ਚੱਲੀਆਂ ਨੀ ।

4.     ਪਰ੍ਹੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੈਦੋ ਆਣ ਪੱਗ ਮਾਰੀ, ਚਲੋ ਵੇਖ ਲਉ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਅਵੱਲੀਆਂ ਨੀ ।

155. HEER AND RANJHA STAY TOGTHER AFTER THE GIRLS LEAVE.

1.     After playing, all Heer's girlfriends went home.

2.     Ranjha and Heer stayed behind and slept. The buffaloes went to the riverside to graze.

3.     After observing them together, the lame man Kaido walked to the village as fast he could.

156. ਚੂਚਕ ਘੋੜੇ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਬੇਲੇ ਨੂੰ ( CHUCHAK GOES TO FIELDS ON A HORSE)

1.     ਪਰ੍ਹੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੇਗ਼ੈਰਤੀ ਕੁੱਲ ਹੋਈ, ਚੋਭ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਲੇਜੜੇ ਚਸਕਦੀ ਏ ।

2.     ਬੇਸ਼ਰਮ ਹੈ ਟੱਪ ਕੇ ਸਿਰੇ ਚੜ੍ਹਦਾ, ਭਲੇ ਆਦਮੀ ਦੀ ਜਾਨ ਧਸਕਦੀ ਏ ।

3.     ਚੂਚਕ ਘੋੜੇ ਤੇ ਤੁਰਤ ਅਸਵਾਰ ਹੋਇਆ, ਹੱਥ ਸਾਂਗ ਜਿਉਂ ਬਿਜਲੀ ਲਿਸ਼ਕਦੀ ਏ ।

4.     ਸੁੰਬ ਘੋੜੇ ਦੇ ਕਾੜ ਹੀ ਕਾੜ ਵੱਜਣ, ਸੁਣਦਿਆਂ ਹੀਰ ਰਾਂਝੇ ਤੋਂ ਖਿਸਕਦੀ ਏ ।

5.     ਉਠ ਰਾਂਝਨਾ ਵੇ ਬਾਬਲ ਆਂਵਦਾ ਈ, ਨਾਲੇ ਗੱਲ ਕਰਦੀ ਨਾਲੇ ਰਿਸ਼ਕਦੀ ਏ ।

6.     ਮੈਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਸਹੇਲੀਆਂ ਨੱਸ ਗਈਆਂ, ਮਕਰ ਨਾਲ ਹੌਲੀ ਹੌਲੀ ਬੁਸਕਦੀ ਏ ।

7.     ਵਾਰਿਸ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਜਿਉਂ ਮੋਰਚੇ ਬੈਠ ਬਿੱਲੀ, ਸਾਹ ਘੁਟ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਨਾਹੀਂ ਕੁਸਕਦੀ ਏ ।

156. CHUCHAK GOES TO FIELDS ON A HORSE

1.     Chuchak is worried about family’s honor and gets piercing pain in his heart.

2.     Shamelessness can upset anyone. For the righteous person, life is lost.

3.     Chuchak promptly rides the horse, with a shining sword in his hand.

4.     On hearing the noise of the fast trot of the horse, Heer moves away from Ranjha.

5.     Oh, get up, Ranjha, my father comes, says Heer, and tries to move further away.

6.     My friends have left me alone, and sobs slowly.

7.     Writes Waris Shah—as if a cat is exposed breathless in a stranded condition.
