BABA JI SATSANG-‐ 14.10.2012, DELHI –IN HINDI
(DHUN SUN KAR MANN SAMJHAYEE-‐-‐-‐BACHAN 9 SHABD9 –SOAMI JI)
(SOME SALIENT POINTS, AS UNDERSTOOD.)
Dwelling on the antics of mind, Baba Ji provided a number of insights-‐-‐-‐-‐
1. MIND AND RIVER
The normal tendency of mind is akin to the river water that always flows down the slope. The moment its flow is obstructed by a dam or suppressed through any other means, it changes its direction but continues to stream downside. Likewise, downward and outward energy of mind has to be channelized in the upward and inward direction by the pull of Shabd and by living a balanced life style. Mind has to be attached to inner and upward pull of Nam so that it might voluntarily abandon its descending attributes. (Superior attachment leads to automatic detachment from material and transitory matter.)
2. I THINK THEREFORE I AM.
Western philosophers have endorsed the thought of “I think therefore I am”. Only mind thinks and therefore such ideas are deceptive power play of mind. Mind plays this subtle game of being larger than the Self or the Reality, and thus is capable of keeping the “being” in the cycle of “come and go”.
3. KARMIC DESTINY—Saints do not come here to interfere or intervene in the karmic destiny of the people, which is determined by the Will of the Lord. Saints abide by the Will of the Lord. Their purpose is to guide seekers on the path of Nam. Eko nam hukam hai Nanak , satgur diya bujhaye jeeo. The essence of Gurbani is “ Nanak ke ghar eko Nam”. The rest of the Bani describes ways and means of Nam Bhakti.
4. SHABD SWAROOP AND THE SURGAN SWAROOP
Baba Ji explained the meaning of the below quoted diction of Soami Ji with its perceived contradiction of focusing on the “ Swaroop” of Satguru.
Those who undertake meditative concentration on the “physical form of Satguru” can also be misled. This is the apparent translation of this line. The physical is temporal and therefore a poor tool of proven reliability or Eternal Divinity. The “roop” -‐-‐body/persona-‐-‐ alters with age; the physique varies with time. And, therefore, whether, focus on the form as visualized today can be relied upon? There are chances of being duped or be under a spell of self delusion of Mind, says Soami ji, if some may claim that “I” have seen the physical form of the Master inside.
Since the real Swaroop of Satguru is “Shabd”, Soami Ji has clarified in another verse that only through the Grace of “ Guru” that ‘Roop’ can be experienced and not by personal efforts. The following lines implore the Lord for his benediction-‐-‐

The physical form (SARGUN ROOP) of the Master which is highly pious, pure, precious and pulling is worthy of the highest reverence but is meant to create yearning of Nam for the seekers but it is the Shabd form or the Shabd which is the Real Master. The physical form assists the seeker for yearning of inner experience of the spiritual form of the Master.
5. SUN AND RAYS
The following verse was elaborated—
In meditative concentration when one attains “sunn samadh”—numb posture of the body—the intensity of understanding is so overwhelmingly enriching and enlightening, as if each ray is getting rid of gross ignorance of mind and matter, like the sun that appears like a sphere (gola) to us, dispels the darkness of night. The light of understanding is equivalent to the brightest illumination of innumerable suns. This state cannot be elaborated but can be experienced just as a dumb person who has tasted the sweetness of a candy and remains inexpressible of its blissful sensation.
6. BABA BULLE SHAH
Baba ji referred to the incident of Baba Bulle Shah, who belonged to the lineage of prophet Mohammad and was fired with Vireh for His Master Shah Inayat Khan( and quoted Farid sahib “Vireh vireh , Vireh tu Sultan”). Noting Bulle Shah’s deep devotion to His Master who belonged to low caste, the family tried to persuade him to quit his association with his Master. He declined and rejected their advisory with firmest response at His command (see the square below) Baba ji mentioned the first line of the Bulle Shah

The following is the full version
Sisters and sister in laws came to advise Bulle Shah-‐-‐
Why oh Bulle Shah, have you smeared your glorious Sayyad ancestral heritage of the Prophet Mohammad and descendants of the Ali(by being disciple of Shah Inayat Khan who was a gardner farmer ).
Listen to us and quit the( "palla") company of a farmer.
Then Bulle Shah replies-‐-‐

the one who addresses me as Sayyaid shall be punishable in hell; he who calls me a farmer shall be swinging with heavenly bliss. If you are keen to seek Divine benediction, become a disciple of raaeyyan-‐the farmer. |
